I laughed his silly joke off. Hopefully he was just a joking kind of guy.
"That's not true," Joe protested, "I'm sure Olivia can do better."
"I think anyone could," Q chimed in.
"Thanks," I mutter.
"Hey," Joe said, "do you want a go?"
"Uh," I sighed, I had no clue what I was doing since I've only seen what they do today, "I can have a go?"
Murr and Sal cheered and handed me a spare ear piece. I sheepishly walked through the dark corridor out to the cafe. I was a regular here so I was about to make an embarrassment of myself in front of the regular customers.
"Here goes nothing," I said, dreading the next few minutes.
"We'll go easy," Joe said, "just get this woman's order wrong."
I sighed and went behind the counter, smiling at the exhausted woman facing me.
"I'll get a vanilla milkshake please," she said.
"Ok," I said, turning around. One of the cameras was by the menu board. "So I just give her something different."
"Yeah, anything but a vanilla milkshake," I guessed that was Q.
I turned around to her exhausted expression and guessed she didn't wanna be messed with; but I didn't wanna let down my friends on my first try.
I headed to the burger station and filled up the burger with cheese and salad, handing it back to her with a nervous smile.
"That's not what I ordered," she yelled at me as I walked off.
"You ordered a burger?"
The guys were all laughing in my earpiece which made it difficult to hear the lady.
"No, I ordered a milkshake. What is wrong with you?" And with that she stormed out the cafe.
"Oh my god, you guys!"
"Ok, that's great. We'll get Casey to chase her up. Next thing..." Joe said, his voice to close to the microphone making him sound like a robot.
"I got one, I got one, I got one," Sal repeated, "just try and take some people's food from their plates. You've had a long day... you need to eat something. Anything." They all burst into laughing.
"That man over there," Murr pointed out.
He was sat alone. Eating chips and drinking Coke.
I'll just take his fries, no big deal.
I reached out from the side of him and took a single fry, looking away from him as I did so. No reply.
"Now eat it," Joe ordered, "and face him."
I chucked nervously and faced him. He was looking up at me with a disgusted expression. "What are you doing?"
"I've had a long day," I splutter out, then begin eating the chip.
"You can't do that, these are mine!"
"Yeah but you wanted to share them with me!"
"No, I didn't," he swore at me and I self-consciously went back behind the counter.
"Ok, last thing," Murr said, and the guys must've been in a group discussion for a few seconds as muffled mumbled were audible.
"Just try and get someone to go to your sisters funeral. If you get someone to go, you win."
"Oh, my god. Is that even appropriate?" I asked, disbelievingly.
"It is now," Q said.
"Excuse me," I called out at customer who was waiting for their food. "My sister... was, uh... hit by a car yesterday."
"Oh, I'm sorry," she said.
"And her wish... was for strangers to come, so people could meet at her funeral. And it's next week and-"
"I'm sorry I'm busy," she cut me off.
"Well that person doesn't like my sister," I joked. I didn't even have one.
"Hi, there," I said to the next person, "my sister has been battling a... disease for some time, and sadly last night she passed away. I was just wondering-"
"I'm sorry to hear that," he said in a deep voice, counting out his money.
"Well, she just wanted strangers to come so... that people could meet."
"Yeah I'm not comfortable going to a strangers funeral."
"Quit using that method! No one wants strangers at their funeral!" Joe yelled, jokingly.
"Well, I've lost then, because no one would come!"
"Well it looks like we have our loser."
