"Why is it taking so long to isolate the area? You should have more than enough manpower to take on the force in Kauai. Get it done before I decide that you need more incentive!" the woman in black sneered at her second in command like a viper ready to strike. She was dressed in a gown of flowing black silk and tight knee-high stockings. Her raven hair was slicked into glimmering braids interwoven with shining rubies, amethysts, and polished onyx. Her obsidian stilettos were literally as sharp as knives.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Black. We've been having trouble moving against the force because of the big island's interference. We would have had enough soldiers to take over Kauai, but we get hit too hard whenever they send that blonde devil our way." Her assistant was a short man in his thirties that looked like he had crawled out of some tar-pit in hell. Mrs. Black wouldn't have been surprised if there were tiny little horns hiding in that filthy mop of red hair. She found it ironic that he would call anyone else a devil when he looked like one straight from a cartoon.

"You're talking about the Krag?" she confirmed. When the little monster nodded sheepishly, she scowled at the bright blue waves before her. "How can one man hold up our plans to this extent? It's not possible! If anything, he should already be under my command."

"I know Mrs. Black. I'm sorry Mrs. Black. But he is not like other man. When Alpha unit moved to capture the regional office, up he showed and scattered them. Only half the team escaped. Not a single advocate lay a hand on him to activate compulsion glove, so we don't have clue if they even work on whatever he is," said the little demon. His speech patterns utterly revolted Black's husband, but she found it amusing.

"We cannot move in for full takeover. He is too strong."

Black pondered silently for a while. She knew that her husband, Mr. White, would be facing an even larger problem soon if she didn't take care of it first. All of their plans hinged upon her total control of the island. It was a simple matter to possess any number of people once the police were out of the way, but not if there was some monster detective causing roadblocks at every turn.

Then suddenly an idea struck home. It began growing and festering within the corrupt confines of her twisted mind. After a while, a sinister plot had taken life underneath that grand umbrella which shielded her from the sun.

"Krag is stationed on the big island, not Kauai. Which means he remains there until we cause trouble for him. So all we have to do is make sure that he has enough trouble there to keep him home for once. I hear he has quite a few children. Go and find their address, but do not engage. We'll give daddy Krag a reason to stay put." Her voice was somewhere between a lioness purring and a cobra slithering.

The twisted smile grew as wicked as the black spiral tattooed on her neck. She began laughing as the hundreds of Hawaiians continued to work on Mahaulepu beach. Each one of them- men, women, and children alike- worked tirelessly digging, shifting, and transporting tons of sand. Their free will took a back seat to the commands of the Helix's co-founder. Mrs. Black already had control of half an island, soon she would be coming for the rest.

Another short chapter, but just as important to the story. This is our first glimpse of the masterminds behind the Helix. Leave a comment below telling me what you think she might be capable of and don't forget to leave a vote if you want to find out more on Mrs. Black.
