Instead of spending a day at home alone I made plans to visit my family, Mum and Dad are expecting me by ten so I jumped in the shower straight after breakfast and got myself ready.
It's only a twenty minute drive but with the usual London traffic at a standstill I arrived fifteen minutes late.
"Hello darling, come inside," Mum smiled kissing my cheek.
"Hiya," I replied.
"How are you?"
"I'm good thanks."
I followed her through to the lounge to see Dad.
"What have you been up to then?" he asked.
"Nothing really, I did go out with some mates last night though."
"Yeah, you better make the most of that. Babysitters cost a fortune and they can't always be trusted these days," Mum said.
I frowned ignoring her comment.
"How's the nursery coming along?" Dad asked.
"It's nearly done, Jamie and Lewis put the furniture up yesterday," I smiled.
"You see a lot of this Jamie lad don't you?" Mum asked.
"He's a good friend."
"I'm surprised something hasnt happened between you two yet, especially with your hormones," she continued.
"It can work both ways," I replied.
"Single is he? this Jamie," Dad asked.
"Yeah, he doesn't want a relationship."
"Maybe you should stay clear then."
I can't imagine Jamie in a stable relationship, never mind with me. He's happy to support me because he knows I'm the one with full responsibility, he can hand back the baby at the end of the day.
"Where's Kelly?" I asked.
"Shopping with a friend," Mum replied.
Kelly, my sister is the one who any parent would be proud and the one who has my Mum kissing the ground she walks on. She has both GCSE's and A-Levels under her belt. She's single, but not pregnant and has her life planned out like a movie, so it's no wonder my parents reacted to the news like they did.
"I've send you some money via direct debit, you must be struggling," Dad said reaching for his iPad.
"No thank you Dad."
"Come on, you can't look after yourself and a baby on maternity pay."
"I'm fine," I insisted. "I'll be earning a little extra tomorrow and I have my savings."
Even when I did do shifts at the salon I could have done with more money but that's not what I want from them, I want their support. Dad's trying but it's not enough, it kills me to think they're ashamed on their pregnant daughter.
I stayed until the middle of the afternoon but by then I had to go home, I'm exhausted and in need of a bubble bath. Relieved to be in my own house I ran the hot tap and poured in some of my favourite radox for a relaxing soak.
I flicked through BBM on my phone with one hand out of the bath as I read the updates down my screen.
Amy - Night out with Lewis ❤️
I envy her relationship, her and Lewis are made for each other and nothing in this world seems possible to break them. I've had a few boyfriends but now at seven months pregnant it's harder than ever to find someone, I understand why a man wouldn't want a child at twenty though.
Jamie's P.O.V
For once in my life I'm not looking forward to going out. Claire has been texting me non-stop since the night we met and it's come to the point where I've had to agree to meet her just so she stops hassling me. I hope she doesn't class this as a first date! We're meeting in the Mayfair hotel at eight, it's not ideal considering it's one of London's hottest attractions but I've stupidly agreed.
I changed my plans with Tiffany for this and I'm regretting my decision before the nights even started. I do feel guilty but at least I'm seeing her before she has to work tomorrow, well it's more of an event than work.
