The second I walked inside the restaurant I felt out of place. I looked around expecting to see Kate Moss in the corner sipping Moët champagne. Why has Jamie brought me here?

"Are you serious?" I gasped.

"Yeah, why?"

"It's very posh."

"Come on," he said taking my hand and leading the way.

We we're taken across the room to the far right hand side and shown to our table. It's set out for two with a single rose as a centre piece.

"Thank you," I smiled to the waitress assisting me into my chair.

Skimming the menu we ordered our food with some sparkling water, there's food on here I've never even heard of so I dread to think what will be put in front of us.

The pretty blonde waitress soon caught Jamie's attention.

"You're punching above your weight there," I teased.

"Huh?" he chuckled. "I wasn't.."

"Yes, you were."

"Sorry."

"It doesn't matter," I shrugged.

"Have you done anything today?" Jamie asked sipping from his glass.

"Amy came over this afternoon."

"Yeah, I bumped into her before we left."

"Oh yeah. What about you?"

"Nothing much, I've been working today."

"Did you go out last night?" I asked.

"No, Mum came over," he replied.

"How is she?"

"She's good."

"Did she have much to say about the story?"

"Not really," he shrugged.

I frowned finding that hard to believe.

"I got a lecture," he chuckled. "It was similar to yours actually."

"That's because I'm right," I grinned. "I'll have to go see her sometime, it's been awhile since we spoke."

"Yeah," he nodded.

"Did she say anything else?"

"No."

"Oh."

"Actually, yeah she did."

I frowned watching him pick at his bitten finger nails.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"I'm sorry, I can't pretend there isn't a reason for tonight," he replied.

"What do you mean?"

"I brought you here because I want to, don't think otherwise."

"What are you on about?"

"I've been talking to Mum about the way I am, she was asking me why I act differently with you."

"Right."

"I could answer her."

"I don't understand."

"I mean, you know I'll help you bring up this baby any way I can right?"

"Yeah, I know you will," I smiled.

"Exactly and I love the idea of looking after you both."

I have no idea what he is trying to say.

"Jamie, I'm sorry but can you get to the point?" I asked.

"Mum said that tonight would help me settle down, it would give me an insight to a relationship."

"What?" I frowned.

"Come on babe, if anyone can change me, you can."

"No, you have to change yourself. It's your bad decisions that's got you here."

"But I listen to you, you're the only girl friend I truly care about and there must be a reason for that."

"Because I see your personality and not what's in your pants."

He chuckled quietly to himself.

"What an earth was your Mum thinking, this isn't going to work. I've tried enough times before now."

"Think about it, we get on like a house on fire. Maybe there's more to it?"

"More to what?"

"Our friendship."

Before I could answer our food was brought over and placed in front of us. It looks ten times better than I imagined. We both thanked the waitress as she left.

"I'm not saying there is feelings, but theres a possibility right? Isn't it worth a try?" he asked eager to continue the conversation.

"Feelings? Are you really asking me to be your girlfriend?" I gulped.

He shrugged biting on a piece of vension.

"Well me and Amy both got tonight wrong, I was not expecting this Jamie."

"I'm sorry, but I've been thinking about you for a while now."

"What, whilst you were taking that glamour model to bed?" I snorted.

"Don't be like this, I think the world of you."

"Maybe so, but we both know you would struggle to give up your lifestyle."

"I'd struggle yeah, but I could do it for you."

I shook my head in disbelief.

"Come on we'd be great together," he said reaching across the table for my hand.

"It's so out of the blue, you haven't thought about this properly. I can't be with someone who would want to spend their weekends with someone else, there would be no trust. I have a baby to think about remember, Jamie."

"It wouldn't be like that. I'd be committed to you both."

"I can't believe you're actually serious about this."

"It's not so much out of the blue, it's just only now become clear. I look at you every day and think how beautiful you look and the way you've coped with this pregnancy is incredible."

"I don't know what you want me to say," I murmured. "I still need to get my head around it."

"I don't expect you to say anything now, but please think about it?"

I nodded too distracted to enjoy my food. I never in a million years expected to have a conversation like that with Jamie.
