"Am I boring you that much?" Jamie pouted as I was getting ready to go home.
"No, I have parcels arriving this afternoon," I replied.
"Anything that will need putting together?"
"They're pictures, but they won't need hanging up yet."
"Are you sure?"
"What is this?" I giggled.
"Nothing, what do you mean?"
"We can be apart you know."
"I know, it's just..never mind," he stuttered.
"What is it?" I asked.
"What am I supposed to do tonight?"
"I don't know, you usually have your own plans."
"I usually go out to the clubs."
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"I didn't think. Come with me, I can find you some DIY jobs," I insisted. "I'm sorry, we haven't thought about all this have we?"
"No, it's not you. I shouldn't need plans to stop me from going into town."
"Do we really need to take things slow?" I asked.
"I only offered because I thought you felt awkward."
"I'll be fine, I'll adjust to it. This is what feels awkward."
He chuckled picking up his coat and following me out to the car.
Now at my house busy finishing off the nursery our conversation continued.
"I'm happy to dive into the deep end, we can take things slow where we need to," Jamie said with a hammer in one hand and a nail in the other.
"Yeah, the only change is our your social life. I mean, we're close anyway," I replied.
"Yeah, but you do different things in a relationship."
"You are dying to get into my knickers," I giggled.
"I haven't had sex with a pregnant woman before, I'm intrigued."
"I doubt you've had the chance, you don't see many pregnant woman in clubs Jamie."
"Hmm, I have once. It wasn't a sight I'd like to see again."
"Careful what you're saying here."
"No you look incredible at six months pregnant, even in your underwear."
"I knew you we're checking me out the other day!" I gasped whipping him with an old blanket.
"I didn't think I'd got away with that one," he laughed grabbing my hand and pulling me into his arms.
"No, I saw you."
He smirked leaning in for another kiss. It's more natural each time, theres passion now instead of awkwardness and it doesn't feel like I'm kissing my best friend.
"You know I'm joking, right?" he asked as he pulled back from eachother.
"Well, I was hoping some of it was true."
"I do want to, I really do," he chuckled. "But I'll wait until you're ready."
"Yeah, that's still a bit weird for me."
"What about kissing?"
"I'm fine with that."
"I'm a good kisser, huh?" he smirked.
"Are you here to boast or do my nursery?" I asked.
"Are you going to deny that?" he teased.
"Hang up my pictures Jamie."
I grinned to myself as I sorted through the box of linen. The blinds are already fixed to the window so it just leaves the bedding to change and curtains to hang. Everything is in a pretty neutrel beige.
"Hey, get down from there," Jamie said taking the curtains from me and helping me down off the the stool.
"I can do it, it will only take me two minutes," I replied.
"No you can't, I'll do the climbing."
"Fine, i'll do the bedding."
"I thought you wanted a bath?"
"I might have one before bed."
"Does it help you sleep?"
"Not really," I shrugged.
"You will speak to the midwife won't you? It's not good for either of you."
"As soon as I have the chance I will, I promise."
"Good," he smiled.
"Do you want any dinner? we can finish these off later."
"Alright, but I'll finish these off later whilst you have a bath."
"Okay."
"Then I'll leave you to have try and have a good nights sleep."
"Do you not want to stay?" I asked.
"I'd love to but I have work in the morning. I'll call a taxi later."
"I can drive you back."
"Not with wet hair you won't."
"Jamie, you sound like my Mum," I chuckled.
I rummaged in the fridge and rustled us up a nice meal. Jamie watched cluelessly to start with but eventually he made himself useful and prepared a salad.
"I'm going to see Mum after work tomorrow, do you want to come?" he asked.
"Yeah that will be nice."
"I'll let her know and she will cook us all dinner."
"She doesn't have to do that."
"She will love to," he smiled.
I started to think about the situation again, so far everything is working out just fine. I'm enjoying spending so much time with Jamie and even though its very early days I'm in a positive mood. I just hope it keeps up and Jamie stays committed.
