The Daily Star is on form this morning claiming to know all sorts of details about Jamie's night out. There's a picture of him and a brunette outside the Mayfair hotel, it's headlined "Ladies man Jamie Evans beds glamour model Claire Thompson for more fame." I've been expecting this for a long time, we all have.
Jamie came round at lunch to show me the newspaper in hope of some sympathy, but what can I say that I already haven't?
"I did tell you this would happen and you do know this is going to be the first of many," I frowned.
"I was hoping for advice not a lecture," he sighed.
"Advice? Jamie we both know that's pointless."
"I thought she was a nice girl under the clingy-ness, if I'd have known she was planning to sell a story I wouldn't have got involved."
"You never know what these girls are like, I've always told you not to trust glamour models."
"She told me she was a beautician."
"Did her fake double F boobs not give anything away?" I frowned.
"I didn't think about that at the time," he chuckled.
"It's not funny, this is serious."
"Don't be serious with me, I thought I came round to see my best friend not my Mum," he said pulling me down onto his lap.
"I just worry about you, I don't want you to come across as a player. You're a good guy."
"I'm single, I'm not hurting anyone."
"It will only get worse, I should know," I mumbled.
"What?"
"I said it will effect your career."
"No you didn't, what did you say?" he asked.
"Nothing."
"Babe, tell me."
"What are you going to do if you get someone pregnant?" I asked.
"I won't get someone pregnant."
"You don't know that."
"I'm safe, not stupid."
"Is that what I am? Stupid?" I asked pulling back from him.
"No, I didn't mean that. I'm just saying I always use protection."
"Even after the amount of rum you drink on a night out?"
"Yes."
That little disagreement caused a lot of tension between us. I'm only trying to look out for him, I don't want him to follow Nathan's footsteps.
"Come on, I didn't come here to argue with you," Jamie mumbled trying to soften me in his arms.
"I don't know what you want me to say Jamie, only you can determine the way you act," I replied.
"I know that."
"Sorry, I only moan because I care."
"I'm sorry if you thought I called you stupid, I'd never think that of you," he assured.
I felt a gentle kiss of my head.
Relaxed on the couch together we both woke up after an unplanned nap.
"Oh.," Jamie spoke clutching my stomach.
"What?" I yawned.
"Is he kicking?"
I then felt it and watched a grin spread across Jamie's face.
"Ouch, yes," I giggled.
"That's amazing," he smiled.
I sat still and let him enjoy the moment, he's been waiting to feel a kick for so long now.
"What are you doing tonight?" I asked.
"I have a date with my xbox."
"Oh a date, careful now," I teased.
"What time are you off?"
"Six. I don't want to go now."
"Don't then, say you're not up to it."
"They're counting on me, I'll be alright once I'm there," I smiled. "What's the time?"
"Four o'clock."
"Already?! I need a bath before I go."
"I'll run it for you if you want?" he offered.
"No thank you. I might have a shower."
I got up and followed him to the front door, giving him a hug goodbye.
"See you soon," he smiled.
I went straight upstairs after he'd left and jumped in the shower. I won't be working too late tonight but the thought of applying make up to young girls for an hour is exhausting in itself. I straightened my hair, applied my make up and got changed into something suitable, theres no way my uniform would fit me now so i'll have to make the best out of what I do have.
It's unfortunately now six o'clock and I have no emphusiasm to get going.
