It's the following evening and I'm still trying to get my head around Jamie's text. I thought at first I was thinking into it too much, but the second Amy read it she also jumped to conclusions. Jamie's ears must be burning!
"I'm telling you, it's a date," she insisted.
"No, now you're being ridiculous."
"Why else would he want it to be just you two?"
"He takes me out all the time," I shrugged.
"For fish and chips. Where is he taking you tonight?"
"He didn't say, but he's picking me up at eight," I replied.
"How are you supposed to know what to wear?" she frowned.
"I don't know, I didn't think of that."
"Text him?"
"He's working."
"He checks his phone all day, text him."
"Fine," I chuckled.
Me - Hiya. Can you tell me where we're going tonight please? I need to know what to wear. Xx
He did in fact reply within the minute.
Jamie - Hello babe, wear something that makes you feel a million dollars. X
Me - I'm six months pregnant! My feet are swollen, my bums growing and my bump is huge..that's impossible! X
Jamie - Rubbish! No matter what you wear you look gorgeous. See you at eight Xx
"Point proven," Amy smirked looking over my shoulder.
She dragged me upstairs eager to rummage through my wardrobe, I can dress myself but I like to let Amy have her moment now and again.
"What about this red one?" she asked.
"That doesn't fit me anymore."
"Let's go for something different then, something you haven't worn before."
She looked through the end of my wardrobe I rarely touch and held up a black one shoulder maxi dress.
"I brought that for Kelly's graduation."
"Will it fit?"
"Probably, it was loose at the time."
"It's gorgeous. Do you want me to stay and do your hair?" she asked.
"What about Lewis?"
"He's not home until late."
"Okay then."
"Considering you're being treated to a posh dinner out you're not very excited babe," she said.
"I am, It's just I'm still trying to get my head around it. I mean, we went out the other night," I replied.
"I'm sure he has a reason."
"This date talk isn't helping Amy."
"Sorry."
"I'm going to have a shower, make yourself at home. I won't be long."
I slipped on my pyjamas after my shower and sat up on a stool so Amy could style my hair. We decided on a bun to suit my dress but kept it loose to allow some of my natural curls to fall.
"I think we're trying to hard you know," I mumbled applying my usual red lipstick to finish my make up.
I slipped on the dress and looked back at myself in the mirror. It hugs my figure perfectly and if anything hides the size of my bump.
"You look amazing," she grinned.
"Are you sure I'm not over dressed?"
"Positive!"
"I do feel amazing," I smiled.
"Well my job here is done then isn't it?"
"Thanks for your help Amy, you're a star."
"You're very welcome. I better get going now, Lewis will be hungry when he gets home," she said.
"Alright, i'll show you out."
"Have a lovely evening," she smiled at the front door. "Oh, someones keen."
"Huh?" I frowned.
"Jamie's here."
"What?" I stuttered.
"Hey," Jamie said looking handsome in a sharp grey shirt and black trousers.
"Hi," I replied.
"Sorry, I'm a bit early."
"It's okay, I would have only chickened out and changed my dress."
"In that case, I'm glad I'm early. You look amazing," he smiled kissing each of my cheeks.
"Thank you. It's down to Amy really."
"I wouldn't say that."
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"There's a new restaurant in central London I've been wanting to try. It looks great."
"Okay."
"Do you want to get going now? There's a lot of traffic."
"Sure," I smiled.
I picked up my clutch bag and locked the house behind me. Jamie is already standing at the passenger ready to help me.
"How are you feeling?" he asked.
"I'm good thank you, I slept like a log after work last night," I replied.
"Maybe you should do something with your evenings more often then."
"Yeah, maybe."
"Have you got any doctors appointments coming up? Check ups or anything."
"I've got a class at the end of the week."
"Do you need me?"
"That depends if you want to watch me bounce on a big ball."
"Oh, I think you can manage that on your own," he chuckled.
"Thanks for the offer though."
"It's no problem," he smiled.
So far it seems like no different to any other night out, Jamie is treating me exactly the same. I don't understand the need for the fancy venue though?
