Merrin played with her hands while pacing back and forth in her apartment. She wanted to go tell Joey, but somehow she couldn't. She sighed then sat on the couch to think.

"Why am I so nervous? I talk to tons of people at the restaurant."  She turned her head. "But it's Joey. He's attractive, friendly." Her hands pressed against her forehead. "What am I doing?"  She stood up, checked herself in the mirror and exited her apartment. A gentle knock was placed on his door.

"Hi." A young tall, light brown haired male said while laughing after he opened the door. "Can I help you?" He asked calmly.

"This isn't Joey's apartment?" She smacked her forehead then chuckled. "Sorry."

"This is Joey's apartment. He just isn't here." He said then bit his lip. Merrin caught him and she gave him a questioned look.

"Can you have him come over to my apartment when he comes home?" She asked slowly stepping away from the door.

He gave her a nod, but didn't shut the door. She looked back at him then quickly walked back to her apartment. She locked the door as soon as she shut it.

-3 hours later-

Merrin heard a knock on the door. She ran towards to door, but stopped herself to fix her hair before opening it. Joey. They both greeted each other before she let him in. She invited him to join her in the living room for some cake she had bought at the store. He started smiling.

"Why was he smiling?"  She thought while staring at him.

"Are you gonna come tomorrow night?" He asked then took a bite of cake.

"Sure. What do I bring?" Cake fell off her fork and onto her plate.

"You just need to bring yourself. Look nice." He ran his hand through his hair then added. "I mean, you always look nice, but." He paused for a second. "I should shut up." He laughed which made her laugh.

"Don't worry about it." She looked at him while he was looking at his cake. "Eat it up. It's not gonna eat itself." Her voice got louder.

"It's very good cake. Thank you for this." He finished the slice of cake.

She nodded then stood up after him.

"Where is your trash? I'll throw this away." He spoke while looking around for the trash.

"Don't worry about it. I've gotta clean this place up anyways." She said before he handed her his plate.

"Your apartment looks nice though. Doesn't need cleaning."

Her smile really showed her emotion.

"You have a roommate right?" I asked softly.

"No? Has someone been in my apartment?" He asked joking around, but his tone was calm.

"Yeah, and using your toothbrush." I replied also joking around.

"Wait, really?" His voice was soft and serious.

I placed the tips of my fingers on my lips and shook my head.

"You almost got me there." Joey chuckled then started exiting the apartment.

Merrin closed her eyes and shook her head quickly so he couldn't see her. She walked with him back to his apartment. "Thanks for stopping by." Her eyes met his.

"I'm right across the hall if you need anything." He smiled then closed the door. She pressed her hand on the door after he shut it tightly, but quickly took it off before walking towards her apartment. She heard laughter from the stairwell, but didn't stop walking into her apartment. Two females, both tall, skinny, and heading towards Joey's apartment. She shut the door quickly then looked through the peephole. One of the females had dark brown hair that just barely touched her shoulders and the other had dirty blonde hair that just touched below her collarbone. She sighed then realized it was stupid to be 'stalking' her neighbors. Her window was open on the side of the wall that lead out onto a porch area. She walked over to the window and headed out. As she did that, the male she met at the door of Joey's apartment headed for her. Merrin didn't notice him until he made his way onto the porch.

"Hi, you're Merrin right? I know I shouldn't have just come into your apartment, but my friend is choking. Joey said that you were a nurse." The tall man said.

"I'm not a nurse. I'm a waitress. How did he get those two mixed up?" We headed towards the apartment.

"Just to warn you, Joey is a bit stupid." He fake smiled when I looked at him then opened the door for me so I could walk in first.

Joey smiled at me then pointed to his friend. His smile disappeared.

"Joey, may I speak to you over there?" The man who entered my apartment without knocking asked. Joey got up and I sat where Joey was. My eyes moved towards the direction of the men. They were talking about her. Joey chuckled then the other man smacked him. It caused me to jump then I realized the girl with the dark brown hair was choking.

"Can you stick your finger down your throat as far as you can?" Merrin asked while standing up. She watched her do it, but nothing happened. "I don't wanna damage any bones, so can you try harder to make yourself vomit?" She started sweating. Eventually, the food she was choking on came up. She was breathing really fast but then she rested her head on my hip.

"Thank you." Her voice was strained. Merrin stroked the female's hair as she still leaned against her hip.

"You're welcome." The guys were walking towards the woman who choked. I watched Joey grab her hands and just hold them. "I don't even know your names." Merrin said softly.

"Joey." Joey raised his hand but took it right down after the man smacked it.

"She knows you. I'm Chandler." He said then smiled.

"Rachel." The dirty blonde female said.

"Monica." Her voice was soft.

"I'm Merrin. Nice to meet you all." She smiled then sat down.

"Do you live across the hall?" Rachel asked nicely.

She nodded then Rachel spoke again.

"Mon and I live one down from you." Rachel looked at Monica then at Merrin.

A smile appeared on Merrin's face, but she realized that she had to get up early tomorrow so she got up. "I've gotta get some sleep. If you need anything, you know what to do." She smiled then exited their apartment.
