(Y/N)'S POV

I slowly opened an intact red door that led to an almost stable house. Most of the top floor was missing and I wasn't exactly able to go up the stairs. The stairway was blocked by various pieces of furniture. "Hello?" I called out quietly as I pulled out my handgun. "Anybody home?" I explored the house a bit, eventually finding a man –who almost looked like a breathing corpse– held as captive by someone who wasn't here. I knew the man who was tied down. He was a 'slave' to a man I worked with in the past and occasionally do at times. Putting my gun away, I rushed to him. "Are you alright?" I began to remove the braces that held his arms together. "Yo–You shouldn't be here. Boss is going to find ya," he said in his raspy voice. We stood up. I knew this man was afraid, but I didn't want him to be held here like this. "If we end up in his path, he'll have to get through me if he wants you back. I'll escort you to Goodneighbor. It's the safest place I know you'll be."

"Goodneigbor? Isn't the mayor... dead?"

"I dunno. I hope he isn't. But I'm running Goodneighbor for now. Until it's decided who's going to take over or when he'll turn up."

"Well, alright then. Thank you."

"Don't thank me yet," I smiled. "I'll take care of your 'boss'. I'll work something out with him."

He smiled and we both left together. About a day later, we got to Goodneighbor. There, Allan, the man I freed, reunited with his wife and kid. "Papa!" The young boy chirped happily. "Hey, Josh! How's my little man doing?" His wife looked at him in watery tears. I could tell she wanted to smile but was barely able to. "Al?" her raspy voice cracked a bit. "Is that really you?"

"'Course it is! Boss hasn't killed me yet and I'm pretty sure the Institute would kidnap Ghouls. And I'm back because of her."

Allan turned to me and thanked me. "I'm just doing what the mayor would've wanted."

"You and the mayor were close... weren't you?"

"Closer than you might think."

By the end of the day, most of Goodneighbor went quiet. The hotel was full, most likely with whoever's taking any other drug they can get their hands on. It was always lively in there, even if it meant dosing themselves within a bit of radiation. I sat in the mayor's office, reading old newspaper clippings that were handed before the bomb fell. Before I reading a recent letter from a caravan, Allan came running in. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"My boss," he panicked, "he's here. He wants to take my wife and son."

Allan guided me to him, but stopped a few feet behind me. "So you're the one who took him?... What did that worthless piece of shit do to you?"

"Shadow, what the hell are you doing here?"

"I want that ghoul back. But if he don't come, I might as well take his wife and kid. I can always get more caps selling them."

"Let. Them. Go. NOW!"

"Or what? You gonna go off to the Brotherhood?"

"Just let them go. I'll give you all the caps I have... please."

"May I get more for not killing your precious mayor?"

"What? You.... You took him?"

Shadow Freddy chuckled and ordered
one of his men to bring a cloaked figure. Of course they revealed it to be Hancock.

Thank God. "Why? Why did you take him?" I asked Shadow. "Well I discovered you and your friend here were having a little thing. I figured you'd come and get him. After all, I did want to see you again."

"I told you, we're done. Just let them go."

"Heheh. That's not gonna happen. How about this? All of you, in place of these three."

"Bullshit."

"Alright. Consider this your final farewell." A few of his men pulled out their guns and were about to pull the trigger. "Wait, wait, wait!" I panicked, throwing my Laser Musket to the ground, "okay, I'll go. Just don't kill them. Please."

"Now that's what I like to hear. Let them go," he ordered. "Can't we just splatter a little blood, Boss?"

"Where are your manners, Bon? I told you, let them go. We'll take her instead."

He did as promised and didn't kill anyone. Before leaving, I asked if I was able to say any last goodbyes, in which Shadow Freddy allowed, but only for a short time.

I sat in a ruined vertibird wearing a black [long dress/suit] Shadow had me wear. From far, I saw Goodneighbor's dim lights and people gathering around the Old State House. I was alone as I watched. No one was outside with me, other than one of Shadow's boys. I looked down at my arm. Same corpse-like arm. I was in the process of becoming a ghoul. It'll be a lot slower now, now with Hancock not being near me.

"Save me some chems?"

"As always...... I'll be waiting."

I looked down at some Jet I snuck with me. Wouldn't be the same without him. I walked over to the ledge of the building the vertibird landed on and threw the Jet as far as I was able to. As I was about to turn, something blurred to my eyes pushed me to my death. The fall down felt long and slow, and within a few moments, something odd showed itself to me. It was a black figure, that had a white, black socketed mask. Red spots were in place on its cheeks, and had a grin that pretty much read 'this is the end'. And there, on top of a rusty car, I landed, barely breathing, barely alive. Pain overwhelmed my body.

Shadow Freddy came to me running and panicked. "No, no, no!" He removed the hair from my face, trying to get a look and see if I was still with him. "(Y/N)! Hey! Come on, stay with me." I saw tears slowly coming down from his eyes. "Stimpaks.... I need.... stimpaks," I said weakly. "Get stimpaks! NOW!" he ordered. "And get Foxy!" I soon started gasping for air. "It wasn't his fault. It wasn't his fault! He didn't do it!"

"He's going to pay. I promise."

He didn't hear me. I didn't bother telling Shadow not to. He was too stubborn. Soon, Bonnie came back with a box filled with medicine. Quickly, Shadow gave me a few. But it was a little too late. "(Y/N)? (Y/N)!" As everything faded away, I heard Shadow sobbing. I knew I wasn't able to tell him. Not tonight, not ever.

I was still in love with him.
