'They're finally themselves again. I'm so happy' - _chessa__
"What?"
"I could never be mad at you."
"Oh."
"Want to know why?"
"Maybe." she smiled against his chest, slowly becoming soaked by the rain.
He took in a deep breath. If she was brave enough, he was brave enough.
"Because I really like you, too."
They turned their heads to Erika squealing a short distance away from them before clamping a hand over her own mouth, eyes widening in shock at what she had done.
"You heard and saw all of that, didn't you?" Tessa laughed as she and Chance pulled away at the same time.
"I'm sorry for ruining the moment!" she laughed in response.
Tessa walked over and brought her into a hug, laughing too.
"And I only have you to thank for that moment."
"I luh you pickle." Erika said, chuckling.
"I luh you too." Tessa replied in the same tone and accent.
They let go soon afterwards and decided that it was time to go home. Chance chugged down the rest of his coffee and then made a beeline to the trash can that was located in the park. He had soon made his way back, falling into step with the girls. They were walking faster than usual, hoods all up. The rain showed no sign of stopping and they decided that they just had to make it back to the house as quickly as they could.
They turned a corner and Chance accidentally bumped into Tessa, almost knocking her over but catching her before she fell.
"I'm so sorry!" he said as she quickly straightened herself out before looking up at him with a forgiving smile.
"It's fine, I promise."
She had smelled the coffee on his breath as he had spoken, their faces close enough to do so. The scent of it lingered in the air as they stood together, each second passing causing them to become damper, but they hadn't focused on that, just the color of each others' eyes, and the way they shone staring into the other's. Every few moments, they flickered down, but that happened subconsciously.
Erika hadn't stopped to check up on what they were doing, learning from her previous mistake of squealing like a fangirl. She was a few feet away before finally stopping to turn around and make sure that they hadn't died. Not wanting to interrupt the moment (unlike before), Erika walked away as if she had no idea about what was going on behind her, but was silently celebrating in her head, looking like a proud mother.
Tessa and Chance finally snapped out of their daze, looking away from each other. Both turning on their heel, they tried to catch up with Erika. Not running, but a skip in their step that made it easy to do so if needed.
Without realising, their hands came together and stayed there for the rest of the way home. The contact kept them slightly warm, metaphorically and physically.
A tiny action. Small, simple, undefined.

They ran inside, surprised at the lack of fans outside of their home. It may have been roughly 10am, the time when a group of people were usually formed around the front gate, but the hammering rain kept everyone away, even the paparazzi.
As they shut the door, they realised that there was a commotion coming from the living room. They used that to their advantage and quietly slipped away before the rest of the group registered the noise that showed someone had come in.
Chance and Tessa ran upstairs and Erika simply walked to her room, conveniently located next to the front door. Each hopped into their respectful showers, trying to warm up.
Tessa threw on a loose shirt and pair of sweatpants, unaware that Chance was wearing something similar.
She had walked down first, phone in hand and smiling at a photo she had been tagged in. Surprisingly it was about 'chessa', something that didn't bother her anymore, because she realised that, well, she technically shipped it too.
"You slept in." Nick laughed as he saw Tessa walk into the room.
"Uh, yeah. I went to sleep late." she smiled, trying to cover up the fact that she had actually been chasing Chance with Erika earlier that morning.
She put her phone away in the pocket of her sweatpants, going to fill up a glass with water. As she sipped on the cool liquid, she observed everyone else interacting. Something seemed off to her and soon realised that a vase was missing. On the other hand, there was a collection of broken glass shards in the corner with a bat laying next to them, a broom propped up on the wall.
Nothing new.
Tessa's mind drifted off to the past hour. She'd thought about the fact that those feelings were all foreign the night before. Even the icy water trickling down her throat couldn't stop her face from turning hot or the blush that crept to her cheeks as she thought about the fact they liked each other, and it was known to the both of them. She knew what she had (and wanted) to do with that information, but also thought about the consequences.
It could change everything.
He heart picked up its pace, but she decided that fear wasn't going to get in the way of this. She finally had something that she never wanted to let go of, and that alone meant that the risk was worth it.
As if on cue, Chance walked into the room. He casually slipped past everyone and ended up next to Tessa, managing to keep all attention away from himself. She held out the glass to him and he gulped down the rest of the water, no care in the world that they had shared a glass.
"They think that I'd slept in today, so I just went along with it." she quietly told him.
"That's fine. I'll just say I went out for coffee and got caught in the rain if they ask."
"Well, that's basically the truth, just without the details." The smile in her low voice showing, but not wanting to bring attention to the two of them.
Chance put down the glass that was empty, hand cold from it. As he dropped it to his side, it brushed past Tessa's, so he took it without a second thought.
"You think we'll make this work?" he asked, giving her hand a slight squeeze.
"I don't know, but it's worth the risk."
