Ellis’ POV
I stood up and dusted the sand off of my legs. I grabbed a sweatshirt from my tent and saw Hill walk
towards me. He took my hand and kissed it. “Wanna go for a walk?” I nodded and he swung our hands.
He grinned and pecked me on the cheek. “Good, cause I’m missing some ‘us’ time.” I leaned into his
perfect pink lips and felt him smile. He pulled me in by my waist and I giggled. We pulled apart and I
became acutely aware of the silence around the campfire. Reese was grinning uncontrollably
(probably because she lives through others relationships), Brian’s eyebrows were raised, Steele wasn’t
even looking (probably because I was kissing his brother; that’s a little awkward), Cara was stifling a
laugh and Daniel was making a kissy face. I made a face at him and smiled at Hill. “Let’s go.” We
walked towards the water and then towards the sunset.
30 minutes later, we came back to Reese handing out sheets of paper. She smiled at us and handed
us each one. I looked at it and frowned. “What is this?” She told us to sit down and then explained. “This
is a quiz. I thought it would be fun to see how well we know each other. Some of them are simple and
silly, and some are more… unknown. Just do your best, I don’t even know all of them.” She gave us
each a pen and we got started. Some of them were so silly, like, what’s Cara’s favorite color? Or, what
is Daniel’s GPA? And, what is the color of Ellis’ eyes. On this one, I spotted some glancing at me and I
put a hand over my eyes so they couldn’t see. Everyone finished and we went over them. Sadly, most
failed miserably and we all laughed at each other’s answers. For the last one, the one about my eye
color, I held my breath. All of them said, blue, in unison except Steele. He said green. Everyone looked
at him. He nodded. “Yeah, green. Not blue, green." Hill shook his head. “No way man, they are
definitely blue.” Reese nodded but Brian didn’t look so convinced any more. I just stared at Steele. He
looked at me and smiled. “They are green, aren’t they?” Everyone turned to look at me. I laughed out
loud and shook my head. “Oh my gosh, I cannot believe that all of you guys got it wrong except for
Steele.” Hill’s jaw dropped and Steele pumped his fist. Reese
put her face in her hands. “Oh my gosh. How could I not know my best friend for 15 years’ eye color?” I
grabbed her hand and smiled. “Hey, its all good. I thought you had a dog named Trixie even though
you’re allergic.” She laughed at that. “Yeah, that’s true.” Hill’s mouth was still open. Brian laughed at
him. “How could you not know your own girlfriend’s eye color?” Hill shook his head. He smirked and
said, “Because when we make out, it’s with our eyes closed.” Daniel snorted and Reese laughed, hard.
I stifled my laugh and Hill winked at me. Steele looked downright pissed.
