Steele's POV

I sat there for another hour, thinking about Ellis. I know, I know, its wrong to think about your brother's

girlfriend but it's not my fault! Ellis was exactly what I needed. I thought about the time we surfed with

Brian and his gang. She was arguing with Brian, knee deep in the water. I couldn't quite make out what

they were saying but it must have been about Hill because Brian was smirking and Ellis was getting

angry. Her golden hair was flipped around her shoulder and her green eyes flashed dangerously. My

only thought was, damn. She wasn't just hot or cute or even beautiful; she was radiant, bright, fiery.

I walked slowly back towards my tent. I heard a slight rustle in a small red one and I stepped closer. The

flap was open and I saw Ellis on top of her sleeping bag. She was sprawled out, her arms wide, her

face still. I smiled at the sight of her wild sleeping pose and then kept walking. I knew what she would

do. She'd shove my shoulder and laugh, her perfect, infectious laugh, and say, 'Stop it you creep! You

can't watch people while they're sleeping!' I crawled into my tent and fell asleep.

I woke to my tent shaking and then a, "shi-" and a muffled noise. I realized only later that someone had

tripped on the tent and tried not to make noise. I laughed, as I crawled out of my tent sleepily, when I

realized it was Ellis. I checked my phone to see the terrible numbers of 6, 3, and 0. 6:30, really? I

rubbed my eyes and watched Ellis jump into the water. She tried not to shriek too loudly as the water hit

her. Someone else came out of their tent and I looked over as Brian yawned and joined me. I nodded

and we watched as Ellis went under and came back up. We headed over to the campfire and began

building it up. Ellis joined us a minute later, eyes bright and sopping wet. She grabbed a towel and sat

down on a log. I shook my head at her. "Why are you up at this time, wierdo?" She frowned. "Why is that

weird? I like waking up early." Brian snorted. "Why is that weird? Because you're a teenager, that's

why." He was still rubbing his eyes and yawning. She rolled her eyes and grabbed a rack to put over

the fire. She placed some sausages on it and let them cook.

The amazing smell eventually woke up the rest of the group. Even though they grumbled about being

woken up early, the breakfast was enough to satisfy them. We sat around the campfire for a while, just

talking and laughing. I looked around the group and had to hand it to Ellis. We were pretty much a

normal group. None of the petty or weird relationships or the rivalries cropped up. I caught Ellis' eye

and nodded approvingly. She shrugged modestly but her eyes shined. I noticed Hill staring at Ellis too.

He smiled when she tucked a lock of blonde hair behind her ear. She looked over to him, mid-laugh,

and winked at him. He walked over and sat down next to her. I watched as he kissed her forehead

lightly and they continued to talk. I took a deep breath and looked down at my hands. Someone

nudged me and I looked up to see Brian looking at me with pity. That was a look I hated. He glanced at
