The sound of rain hits my window forcefully, making me sit up faster than I intended.

I turn around to see That Josh is still asleep. I push myself off the bed and walk towards my phone. The time reads 4:36 AM.

I change into a pair of jeans and a rain coat so I won't get cold.

I go outside of the complex and sit on the dewy grass. The rain brushes my face lightly, making me wake up with each drop.

I see a tall black figure in the distance. It almost looks like the person is loitering. I don't take my eyes off of it until it looks directly at me. I shift my body so that I'm not facing the human.

Not long after, I hear footsteps coming my way. My breathing stops and I stand up carefully. I walk around the building until I get to the other flight of stairs, after that I start running to my apartment.

Once I get it, I slam the door shut, making Josh run out of my room. "Are you okay?" I try to open my mouth to talk, but all that comes out are shaky breaths.

He walks over to me and puts an arm around my waist this free hand on my chin. "You're safe, don't worry."

"Am I?" A frown forms on his face, making his brows furrow. "What do you mean?" A tear slips down my cheek.

"A random man was walking towards me." He looks confused, I don't blame him.

"He could be a nice guy." Tears well up in my eyes. "Yeah, because 'nice guys' don't loiter."

Sympathy fills his eyes. "H-he was waiting for you?" I nod and rest my head on his chest.

"Please don't go anywhere tonight, I'm scared."

"As long as I'm here, you're safe."

Josh grabs my hand and leads me to the couch. He picks me up by the waist and sets me down on his lap, gently stroking my hair.

"Do you want to call Tyler?" I shake my head. "Jenna?" I shake my head a second time. "Are you sure?" I nod, putting my arms around his neck.

"Do you need anything?" I look up at him. "I need you to stay with me."

The next few hours were weird. Josh never left my side and was constantly on top of me, Tyler was always calling me to see if I was holding up. I just want to leave that topic alone for today.

"Josh?" His head shoots up from his phone. "Yeah, babe?" I bit my lip nervously and tear a piece of skin off, revealing a red liquid.

I curl my bleeding lip in attempt, he won't notice. "Oh, you're bleeding!"

"Josh, I'm fine." He comes back with a wet paper towel and presses it gently against my lower lip.

After it stops bleeding, Josh begins to ruffle his fading red hair. "What were you saying?" Why did you come home at three in the morning? "What color are you going to dye your hair?" Josh shrugs and looks at me.

"How about yellow?" He raises an eyebrow. "What shade of yellow?" He sounds intriguing by my suggestion. "Highlighter!"
