(Y/n)'s POV:

Status: edited

I sat in a corner, not daring to look up at the man standing in front of me.

"You're worthless," The man yells. "No one will ever love you like I do."

My sobs get louder, and at this point I'm screaming.

Someone shakes my shoulder forcefully, making me jolt up and scream until my throat hurts.

I look up to see a boy with a brown buzz cut; Tyler. I let out a sigh of relief and hold onto his frame for dear life.

"Shh, it's okay. You're safe with me." Tyler gently strokes my hair, making my grip loosen.

"H-he's back, T-Tyler..." I stutter out. He places a small kiss onto my head and I look up at him.

"No one is going to hurt you, I'll protect you."

Tyler is the only person I've ever trusted, everyone else to me seems like predators just waiting to get their hands on me. I'm a perfect snack: weak and helpless.

When we first met, I was terrified of Tyler. I was scared that he was going to hurt me, use me, but I was wrong.

He was different. The boy took care of me until I was stable enough to leave the house.

I still won't talk to people, but I will leave the house from time to time if he comes with me. I guess you could say I'm a selective mute.

Tyler and I moved in together because we thought it was best for us. He could help me and I didn't have to live in fear.

He had a girlfriend and she knew I was staying with him, but Jenna didn't mind.

I fall asleep in his arms. Tyler doesn't let go of me, in fact, he lays me down on the bed and he does the same with himself. Tylerncups my figure and hold me close to his chest.

I wake up to the sound of pans rattling against the stove. I have to admit, Tyler's cooking is pretty good.

I stumble into the kitchen to see a merry boy waiting for me.

He hands me a washcloth and points to the sink. I rub my cheek and frown, it was all sticking from tears.

Once I finish, the food was set on the table. There were scrambled eggs and chocolate chip pancakes.

I jump up and down and give him a quick peck on the cheek. Jenna didn't mind that we did this because she knew it was from care and not a romantic-drug.

Before I could go upstairs, Tyler grabs my wrist making me turn on my heel and look at him.

"(Y/n)?" I look into his eyes and give him a small smile, signaling him to continue.

"I'm going out to dinner with a friend, he just moved back to Ohio." I knew he had other friends, but Tyler never talked about them.

"And I was wondering if you would like to come?" If eyes could talk, his would be pleading for me to go. Tyler always asked me to come with him when he goes out. I never want to, but he always reassures me that he'll protect me if anything happens.

"O-okay." I say quietly.

"You've never met him before, but he's a really sweet guy. Trust me on this." I take Tyler's word and wrap my arms around him, pulling him into a hug.
