AMANDA

"WAKE UP SLEEPY HEAD!"

I groan as Ashley jumps up and down on the bed waking me from my perfect slumber.

"What the hell are you doing Ash? What have you taken? This isn't fresher's week."

She stops jumping and flops down next to me, sneakily crawling under the covers while still acting all innocent.

"You know you said that Pewdiepie thing was fake, well I sent in your application and some of your portfolio because I think it's real and you have a real chance."

I sit up, "YOU DID WHAT ASH? HOW COULD YOU? THAT COULD HAVE BEEN SOME TROLL WHO NOW HAS SOME OF MY FILMS AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS."

Ashley's top lip quivers and I knew she was about to put on the fake waterworks, "I thought I was being helpful trying to get you a job boo. You don't love me anymore do you?"

Sighing in frustration I open my arms and allow my best friend to crawl into my arms, her top lip stops quivering and she smiles contently knowing she'd won this battle. As much as I wanted to be mad at her I guess Ashley did have my best interests at heart.

"I shouldn't have shouted at you Ash, I do appreciate you doing this for me. I'll always love you no matter how far apart Manchester is from London."

Ashley giggles, "One of the main requirements for the job was that you'd be able to relocate to Brighton since that's where he lives. Brighton is closer to London than Manchester so we can still hang out."

A normal person would have blown up at the prospect of having to pick up their life and relocate to a part of the country they'd never been to, but I had no family ties or any ties for that matter keeping me in Manchester.

"I see you already have this all planned out Ash. Now get out of my bed so I can try and get thirty minutes more sleep before my actual alarm goes off and I have to join the daunting graduate world."

"Nap tight, don't let the bed bugs bite. I'm going into town so I won't be back until later since my parents are still here."

Ashley leans over and pecks my duvet covered head before I feel her weight leave my bed and the wooden door slam after her. Sighing loudly I throw off the duvet knowing I wasn't getting back to sleep now so I might as well start the day with some good old coffee.

Throwing my hair up into a messy bun and putting on my geek glasses seeing as my contacts weren't on my bedside table I get out of bed and slip into my oversized panda slippers Ashley got me for Christmas because pandas were my favourite animal. Through the wall Ashley was making a racket as she got ready, I didn't intend to leave the flat at all today so made no effort to get out of my PJs.

"Do you want some coffee Ash?"

I tap on her door and wait for a response which never comes so I shrug my shoulders and shuffle into the kitchen; she couldn't say I didn't ask her because I just did.

After pouring too much coffee into a small mug I plop down on the sofa and open my laptop before scrambling for the TV remote which always seemed to disappear no matter how many times we said to leave it on the coffee table.

"See you later babe."

"Have fun boo."

The front door slams sending an echo down the hallway and into the living room sending small vibrations across the top of my coffee, that girl knew how to make her presence known.

I decide to catch up on Bake Off having missed last week's episode and scroll through my emails to see how many rejections I had this morning. As I delete each one my finger hovers over an email sent ten minutes ago from an agency I'd never heard of. I'd been warned about opening spam emails but I lived on the edge so open it.
