1 WEEK LATER

AMANDA

Despite my protest, Felix had arranged a small white van to come to Manchester so I could fill it with all my things so I only had to make one trip. I told Marzia I hated people doing things for me because I'd been independent for so long, and she told me that once Felix got an idea in his head it was hard to talk him out of it.

It was sad handing the key back to the landlord; Manchester had been good to me and Ashley. But once I had the last box in the van and started to physically drive away from Manchester the sadness in my heart lifted, replaced with warm happiness that my life could only go up from here.

It was a long drive to Brighton with quite a few pit stops because traffic was hectic. During the breaks, I checked my social media, though I hardly had any followers on almost every site. Felix said he wouldn't reveal me online until he had me do something. So I just hooked up Spotify and blasted my guilty pleasures playlist, blaring everything from Fall Out Boy to Little Mix and even some Lordi thrown in for good measure.

The only thing that bothered me about the move was that when I arrived in Brighton I still had no clue what kind of place I'd be living in. I'd be getting a weekly salary enough to pay the rent and bills, but I'd left it to Felix to find me somewhere. I didn't want anything too over the top because I was a girl of simple needs. Typing in the address he just sent me I weave through Brighton for a good twenty minutes before the Sat Nav tells me that I've arrived.

There was a middle aged woman stood on the steps of what looked to be a large townhouse. Felix better not have gotten me a bloody house, I'd murder the Swede in his sleep. Getting out of the van the woman smiles and saunters towards me.

"You must be the new tenant Amanda, I'm Louise and I own the building."

I shake her hand, "this place is very nice Louise."

She laughs, "My family knocked two townhouses together and created ten flats. I believe you're on the top floor in one of the corner flats. Here let me give you the tour."

I follow Louise up the stairs and see ten letter boxes, because of the size of the building and the number of flats I was pretty happy that I wouldn't be sharing a wall with a neighbour because I could get very loud when playing games. There was a code for the front door, and then I had to use my key for the second door. It had a ground floor, a first floor and lastly a second floor where I'd be living.

Flat number 10 was mine and Louise let me unlock the door. I was immediately blown away, there was a small hallway with a side table and mirror where I could dump my keys and the walls were painted a light grey with wooden floorboards which creaked slightly under our shoes. This then led into a large open plan living/kitchen and dining space, the kitchen looking modern in contrast to the dining room and living room which looked cosier.

"There is a toilet just through the kitchen for guests so they don't have to use your ensuite in the bedroom Amanda. There was a second smaller single bedroom but Felix had me take the bed out saying it would make a nice office space."

Louise lets me explore, the bedroom was a lot bigger and nicer than the one I had in Manchester, and when I walked into my new office space I was overwhelmed that I finally had a space I could work from instead of having to work in my bedroom. I couldn't bring my desk from Manchester so Felix had bought me a spanking new one that had so much space for all my equipment and shit.

"How much is the rent on this place Louise? I guess it's pretty high."

Louise shakes her head as I walk back into the living room, "eight hundred a month, so two hundred a week and that's with all your bills included as well."

I hadn't lived in an all inclusive place since my early university days, but this meant I had less to worry about bill wise.

"Felix wanted you to set up a standing order, he'll pay you on Monday and then the rent is due every Friday. Is that okay with you Amanda?"

I nod and watch her pull some papers from her bag, today was Monday but I hadn't started work yet so no way had Felix paid me. Yes, I'd given him my bank details but I didn't officially start until tomorrow. I fill in the required forms before Louise officially hands me the keys to the place, the number for the building handyman, and her number in case I had any more questions or emergencies.

After she leaves I throw myself onto my new sofa and squeal into one of the cushions. Taking a couple of minutes to calm down I take my phone out and log into my online banking app. Last night I had two thousand of my own money, but now the number read three thousand because someone had put a grand into my account today.

I needed to see if this number was a mistake so I log out and dial Felix's number.

"Amanda, have you moved in yet?"

"Yeah, but I think there's been some mistake. Why is there a grand in my account? Not to sound ungrateful but it took me by surprise."

He laughs, "I think my management forgot to discuss pay with you. Yeah, you'll be getting a grand a week if that's okay."

So I'd be getting four grand a month which meant in a year of this job I would make forty-eight grand which was way above the average starting salary for a graduate unless you went into a respectable career and not the arts. All I had to do was be Felix's production assistant, I had a pretty sweet deal.

"Wow, thanks. So what's the plan for the rest of the week?"

"Luckily the office is only a ten-minute walk from your place so let's say we meet at ten in the morning. We can discuss what you need to do Amanda. But for now, I'm going to let you get back to unpacking so have fun and see you tomorrow."

We say our goodbyes and hang up on each other. I had the whole afternoon to unpack what little belongings I had, but my first priority was setting up my computer and game consoles so I could maybe do some Twitch later. Food also had to be a priority because the fridge, freezer and cupboards were all empty.

I didn't know if Felix knew I was a Twitch gamer, Ashley knew I did it part time but then again she didn't know much about gaming. I went by the username MandaPanda and played a variety of games and tried to Twitch three times a week. Monday was my pick, Wednesday I let my viewers pick the game, and lastly, Friday was dedicated to horror games because they were my speciality.

~Time Skip~

I had set up all my devices, including my computer and all my recording equipment to the surprisingly fast wi-fi the building had. The local corner shop provided me with my tea of Pot Noodle and some Cornflakes until I could do an online shop.

Now to play some games. Opening Twitter I send a tweet saying I would be live on Twitch in ten minutes and I was jumping back into Bloodborne because people seemed to like watching me play that game.

Deciding to get into something more comfortable, I throw my hair into a messy bun and put on my nerdy glasses because my contacts were starting to hurt my eyes telling me I needed to get some new ones. I put on my favourite pyjama bottoms which had pandas on, and throw on one of Felix's new jumpers he'd given me at the end of my Brighton trip because who said no to free clothes and merch.

I would also need to get some sleep tonight so I told myself my cut off for Twitch tonight was three hours, though I never stuck to my time frames so I wouldn't be surprised if I went past the three-hour mark.
