1 WEEK LATER

AMANDA

This past week had flown by, being Felix's production assistant was hard sometimes but he made the job fun. I'd managed to organise his schedule for the next two months including his book signings, as well as him approving almost all of my video ideas. The fans had also started to like me more and supported both my Twitch and YouTube channel.

Today there was no work so Felix let me have the day off, which I spent lazing in front of the TV playing games and watching anime on Netflix. I really did live an exciting life.

A loud knock on the front door makes me jump, no one had buzzed up and all my neighbours were nice. Pausing the TV I get up and shuffle across the floor in my panda slipper socks looking all cute with their bobbing heads. I had my hair tied up, glasses on, sweatpants check and my favourite Slipknot hoodie I got when they last toured.

Without looking through the peep hole I throw the door open dramatically, surprised at who was on the other side.

"Sean."

Sean shuffles nervously on the spot, his eyes slightly puffy from crying.

"Err you said I could call you but you didn't pick up so I asked Felix for your address saying I wanted to collab."

I curse, "Sorry I must have left my phone in the office when I was recording earlier. Come in, you're welcome anytime."

Moving aside I let Sean in and he walks past me, discarding his shoes and jacket by the door. He eyes me up and down before smirking.

"Didn't know you like Slipknot. Cute socks by the way."

I feel my cheeks blush slightly at his compliment, but lucky for me he was already making his way down the hallway so couldn't see my red face. Locking the front door again I follow after him.

He was making himself right at home, I didn't mind people doing that because I did the exact same thing. Sean roots through the cupboards and I'm happy I did an online shop earlier in the week.

"Do you have anything sweet Amanda?"

"I made cookies earlier, you get us some drinks and I'll bring them over to the sofa."

Sean's eyes light up at the mention of cookies and I swear I've never seen someone move so fast. Chuckling at his childish antics I grab the tin of cookies and make my way back to the sofa. A couple minutes later Sean joins me holding two mugs of coffee which he places on the coffee table before joining me on the sofa.

"Now I know you didn't come all the way over here for my baked goods Sean. Here help yourself."

I pop the lid open and Sean instantly grabs two large cookies.

"How did you get those scars?"

Okay, he was blunt, it was a pretty personal question to ask someone but then I see why he asked. With his free hand, he tries and fails to subtly rub his right arm which was covered with a long sleeved shirt. My heart broke for him and what I suspected to be under the fabric.

"I lost my family when I was sixteen, a car crash killed them. My mum and dad's families both despised one another so disowned us. I paid for my brother's funeral since my parents had already made their own arrangements. None of my family would take me in so I went into the system..."

I roll up the sleeve of my hoodie and trace the scar on my wrist, "I was alone and depressed, no one gives a shit about a damaged and broken sixteen-year-old. I started cutting myself for a release from the grief. The other kids at the home found out and mocked me. I was taking both physical and mental abuse from myself, the other kids and even some of the adults."

Sean sits listening intently, I roll down the sleeve of my hoodie and take a deep breath.

"I locked myself in the bathroom and smashed the mirror. I started slicing up my whole arm, I wanted to die and in my head, I wasn't bleeding fast enough. So I picked up the pace and started cutting deeper, snagging a vein on my wrist and then the blood started flowing. The only nice social worker broke down the door just as I passed out from blood loss."

"What happened next Amanda?"

A ghost of a smile flutters across my lips at his question, "I spent five days in a coma because I have an uncommon blood type. When I woke up the social worker moved me from the unhealthy environment and got me into a clinic for depressed and suicidal teenagers. It sounds grim but I got better, I had people to talk to and found creative outlets to express myself. All I needed was someone to listen to me in the end."

Sean nods, it was a lot to take in for anyone. Not everyone knew my full back story, I only shared little pieces because I didn't want pity from people.

"I guess it's my turn now. I'm sorry for everything you've been through Amanda."

He opens his arms and I crawl into them even though we didn't know each other that well. Knowing Sean was hiding something from me I dare to trace my fingers up and down his right arm making his arms tense around me since we were hugging.

"You can trust me, Sean. What we say and see tonight stays between us."

Sean sighs, "I'm ashamed that I'm twenty-seven and cut."

While keeping his left arm around me he rolls up his other sleeve, and unlike my scars which were old and faded his were red and raw.

"You shouldn't be ashamed. Here let me clean them up. We should both make a promise to each other that if we ever have any dark thoughts then no matter what we get in touch with each other."

I get up from the sofa and head into the kitchen to find my new first aid kit. then I return to the sofa and motion for Sean to give me his arm.

"Thank you for tonight Amanda. It's nice to get out of the flat."

Sean flinches slightly as I clean and bandage the cuts.

"Do you want to order some food and watch TV? Try to do something positive and happy."

Sean grins, "Let's get Chinese. What were you watching before I arrived?"

"Supernatural. I've seen every episode but decided to rewatch from the start while I wait for the new season."

"I've honestly never seen it, Amanda."

I gasp loudly, "two brothers hunting things, saving people, the family business."

Sean laughs loudly. Oh, I was going to make him watch every episode. He was going to learn that I knew almost every episode word for word and didn't care how nerdy it made me look.
