"I'm telling you, Lauren, her girlfriend looks so fucking familiar," her friend Lucy says as she enters the new home. She explains how she saw the girl in her neighbors driveway a few minutes. After Lauren told her that the blonde was Camila's girlfriend, her friend started freaking out. "I kid you not, that is freaking Halsey. Your neighbor is dating a celebrity!"
"I've seen her before, Luc. I can bet you everything I own that it is not Halsey."
"Have you seen her up close before?" Lucy tested as she crossed her arms over her chest.
Come to think of it, Lauren has never actually seen her face. She has seen her side profile from a distance, and that's about it. "Well, no. But I think that Camila would share that with me." Would she? I mean, they are friends after all.
Lucy shook her head and grabbed a glass out of the kitchen cabinet. As she filled it with water from the dispenser on the refrigerator, she tried to think of ways the other girls would believe her. "Fine, don't believe me. But I'm telling you, Camila isn't telling you something for some reason. Thinking about it, she doesn't really have to tell you. From what you tell me, this 'Ashley' chick won't be in the picture for that much longer. At least she wouldn't be if Camila was a smart as you say."
"Maybe she is hiding something from me, but so what? I'm still learning things about her. We just recently became friends. Hell, I just got her number last night."
"Was that before or after you got in her bed?" Lauren's friend winked at her. The older girl slapped Lucy's arm as her face grew red in embarrassment.
"Fuck you. You know nothing happened. I would never take advantage of a girl, especially a taken one."
"Like I said, not for long."
Lauren rolled her eyes and grabbed her coffee, then headed towards her backdoor. She went and sat herself in the same seat she spent the night talking about anything and everything with Camila. Last night was something she'll never forget. She really felt like she was understood, and it felt great. She never has connected to someone so quickly seeing as how much they had in common.
They were both Cuban, they grew up eating the same food, they both share a love for several bands, they are both bisexual, they were both outed in high school, and several other small things. Its like they were made to be friends.
Lucy joined her minutes later and sat across from Lauren on the table. They both drank their coffee in silence and listened to the birds chirp in the morning breeze. Well, that was until a slam caught their attention.
"What the fuck, Ashley? Get the fuck out!" Camila screamed from her property.
"Uh oh, not again," Lauren groaned and threw her head back in annoyance. Her neighbor definitely wasn't lying when she said they rarely went at least a day without arguing.
The older Cuban decided she wasn't going to take it this time. She was tired of hearing the two argue nonstop, so she set her drink on the table and stood from her seat abruptly.
"Lauren, you know this isn't a good idea," Lucy tried to reason. "Just let them settle this themselves. You shouldn't get involved."
"I'm practically already involved." Lauren walked out her back gate and walked towards Camila's front door. Once she got there, she pounded on the door and waited rather impatiently for someone to answer. Then door flew open to reveal the girl that tortured Camila to no end.
"What the fuck do you want?" The girl sassed impolitely.
Meanwhile, Lauren was at a lost for words. "Holy shit," she thought. Lucy was actually right. Why hadn't her neighbor mention that her toxic relationship was with one of the biggest solo artists in the world?
"Um, I was going to ask if you could keep it down before I call the cops. Its getting quite annoying to be completely honest."
"And who might you be?"
"Oh, I'm-"
"Yeah, never mind. I don't really care. I was just trying to pretend like I was going to listen to you. You're Lauren, right?" Ashley, or Halsey, interrupted her. Suddenly Lauren could imagine why the couple constantly fought.
"Yes I am. Look, I don't give a shit who you are or what-"
"Anyway, Lauren, I don't appreciate the things who've put in my Camila's head. You made her think she can break up with me, and I don't like that. So here's what's going to happen-"
"Shut the hell up!" Lauren yelled at the girl with clenched fists and a red face from the anger she was feeling. "Like I was saying, I don't know who you think you are, but you have to right to talk to me like this. Now, I think I heard someone telling you to leave their house, so if you don't do that in the next thirty seconds, I am going to call the police. And don't think I wont because I have connections."
Of course that was a lie. Lauren didn't know anyone who was a cop or even have anything to do with the law whatsoever- but annoying girlfriend didn't need to know that. Speaking of which, where is Camila?
"Whatever. I don't need this bullshit anyway." With that, the girl pushed the Cuban out of her way as she made her way to her car. She slammed her car door shut and sped out of the driveway. Once she saw the girl turn the corner and out of sight, she took a deep breath. She didn't even realize that she was holding it until she felt her heart beating out of its chest. She might have seemed confident, but she was terrified. I mean, she was probably loaded with money. If they would've fought, God knows what would've happened.
"Camila?" Lauren called out to her. She wanted to make sure her neighbor was alright since it was a little more nasty than usual. Given what her girlfriend said, she might've tried to break up with her.
"Lauren? Is that you?" A small voice called out from the kitchen.
"Yeah its me, Camz. Are you okay?"
Lauren heard tiny footsteps running at her so by the time she turned the corner, a petite body slammed into her and latched on. Once she regained her balance, the older girl wrapped her arms around the body and held tight.
"I-I tried t-to bre-eak up with her, b-but-" Camila tried to get the words out but due to her sobs, her words were barely comprehensible.
"Shh, I know. She mentioned something to me about it. You'll figure this out, okay? I'll be here to help you out. Hell, I only live right next door. I'm always gonna here."
Gosh, Lauren had so many questions. Was Camila ever planning on telling her that she was dating a celebrity? Is Camila a celebrity herself? There's no way she could be. She delivers pizzas, how could she be?
"P-promise?"
Lauren thought about her response for a second. She was never one to really believe in promises, since most of the time they were broken. But she didn't want this to be one of those times.
"I promise."
~~~
Well, do you think its one of those times? Will Lauren keep her promise?
Well here's another updaaaaate. I'm doing pretty good so far (: I want to get as many updates as I can before school starts which is in 8 days.
Not much to say this update other than it probably kinda sucked. Oh, other than Ashley ending up being Halsey (who is the famous singer).
