Lauren woke up to a crash from what sounded like right outside her downstairs window. She jumped out of her bed and grabbed her old softball bat from underneath her bed. She ran down the stairs prepared to start swinging at whoever was in her house.
She stayed as quiet as she could. She didn't dare to call out to the intruder (since she lives for horror movies and she sees what happens when you do make that stupid move). She reached her window to find it completely in tact and unbothered. Her eyebrows scrunched in confusion until she heard faint yelling coming from her neighbors house.
She looked through the window to find Camila yelling at someone in front of her. The person came into view- it was the girl her neighbor kissed earlier in her driveway.
Lauren watched as Camila shook her head and walked out of her house to the backyard. The girl she was arguing with walked to her car and drove recklessly out of their neighborhood.
Again, Lauren felt like a creeper watching her neighbor, but she felt the need to check to make she she was okay. So she walked to her backdoor and stepped outside under the Miami moon.
She walked to the fence and leaned against it. "This might as well be our thing, Camila."
The younger girl jumped at her voice. She gave a small smile and slowly made her way over to the fence to join her neighbor. "I guess you're right, Lauren."
"Hey, you okay? I don't want to worry you, but I kind of heard you guys screaming at each other."
"Seriously? Wow, I am so sorry. I didn't even think about how loud we were."
Lauren shrugged, "Its no big deal. But you didn't answer my question."
"Oh right," Camila cleared her throat and brushed a piece of her hair behind her ear. "I'm okay. She just- I don't know. Gets on my nerves sometimes. She presses buttons she knows irritate the hell out of me."
"Ah, relationship bumps, huh?"
The younger neighbor scoffs, "More like mountains. We've only been dating for a couple months, so it's not really serious."
Lauren nods in understandably. She's had a couple relationships like that, but they were never fighting this serious. "I see. May I ask what her name is?"
"Her name is Ashley. She's, uh, out of town a lot so I don't really see much of her most of the time. That's actually what our argument was just about. She wanted me to move with her, but I don't want to. I don't want to leave my home town and she just doesn't understand that."
"Wow, that's a tough position. I think she needs to understand your wants and accept the fact you don't want to leave Miami. You've been doing long distance for a couple months though, so how is that going?"
Camila sighed and shrugged, "Okay I guess. Most relationships are still in the honeymoon stage and it feels like we've been fighting since day one. Its just exhausting to be completely honest. Its like- I don't know. Its like its not even worth it anymore."
"Yikes, that isn't good. I'll just say this- do not stay if you're miserable. You should spend your life dating someone who makes you hate relationships. From what you've told me, I would suggest sitting her down and talking things out. If that doesn't work out, you should probably consider what you want to do with your relationship. Of course, this is just based off of what you've told me. I don't know the whole story so I could be totally out of line and if I am, I apologize for that."
"Thank you, Lauren. I seriously appreciate the concern. And I mean that." Camila placed her hand on the green-eyed girl's forearm. Her eyes widened once the saw the older girls expression change into a confused one. She ripped her hand off of her arm and nodded. "Right, well, I should probably go to bed. I have first shift tomorrow, so..."
"Right, um, of course. I'll talk to you soon, Camila." Lauren waved her goodnight and turned to go back inside. That's when she thought of a brilliant plan. "Wait!"
Camila turned around at the sound of her voice. "What's up?"
"Um, what time do you get off tomorrow?" Lauren had to refrain herself from adding 'that's what she said' because she didn't want to be weird in front of her.
"Around three o'clock, why?"
Lauren took a deep breath. She doesn't even know why she's so nervous in the first place, but then she remembered how pretty Camila is and now she understands why. "So I'm having a couple friends over for a little cookout tomorrow and they said to invite more people, so I was gonna ask if you'd like to join us? You can bring some friends if you want."
Camila's face lifted to form the most genuine smile she had all night. "Sure, I'd love to. I can just come over once I get off work. And I'll probably just bring one person. You'll love her, trust me."
"Great! My friends are coming over at two o'clock, but you can come whenever."
"Sounds good. I'll see you tomorrow then. Goodnight, Laur." With a final wave, Camila walked back inside her house and turned off her backyard lights.
"Tomorrow." With that being said, Lauren walked back into her house and locked the backdoor. She went to her bed and laid down. With a content sigh, she closed her eyes and was out like a light.

I wonder what the cookout will bring... hmm.
I am soooo sorry for the late update. I didn't get a chance to write while I was gone since I was on vacation. But I'm back and softball is over so I'm hoping to get a lot of writing done.
As you can see, the first handful of chapters are just focusing on developing Camren's friendship. Ashley won't be in the picture for too long... hopefully. For now it will just be some fluff for development, but it won't stay that way forever (;
Hope you enjoyed this chapter and I'm looking forward to seeing your reactions about the cookout next chapter!! :P
Sincerely yours,
-Lily <3
P.S- I wanted to get the chapter out soooo ignore errors
