Chapter eight.

Skylar Williams

4 weeks later

I woke up to a phone call from Tristan, who has become my good friend in these past few weeks. Since he's a lawyer, he's gonna help me win the court case against Julius. However, he cannot represent me because he knows me personally, so I decided to represent myself.

I got up to shower and put on a high low strapless dress and some wedges. I put my hair in a bun and grabbed my purse. Cassidy was on a school trip, but she'd be back tonight because the court case is tomorrow.

I got in my car and met Tristan at his house.

I ran the doorbell and the door opened. I was immediately greeted by his pit bull, Mocha. I rubbed her head and walked in his house.

"Well goodmorning. " Tristan said smiling and handing me a cup of coffee.

"Goodmorning to you too and thank you " I smiled back while sitting down with the coffee.

I took a sip.

"You ready for tomorrow?" He asked me.

I nodded my head. "Yeah, he's got another thing coming if he thinks he's taking her from me."

He smiled. "Someone's confident."

I laughed. "Well, it's better than worrying and then fucking up in court."

"Ok, well, The judge is most likely gonna ask Cassidy where she wants to live or who she wants to live with."

"I already know she wants to live with me, so I'm not worried."

The next day

I was already in court and Cassidy and Tristan were sitting behind me while I presented my argument. After both Julius' lawyer and I presented our arguments, the judge ended up saying, "Can I have Cassidy Williams come up please?"

I turned around, and told her to come. She came up and stood in front of the judge.

"Hello Cassidy. How are you today?" The judge asked.

She smiled. "I'm fine."

"Ok, Cassidy. Who do you want to live with? Your mommy or your daddy?" The judge asked.

I smiled because I knew she was gonna say me.

"I wanna live with my daddy."

When she said that, my smile quickly turned into a frown.

"Thank you Cassidy. It's final. Julius Richardson gets full custody of Cassidy Williams. Skylar Williams will be allowed to visit her."

My heart sank. He slammed his gavel down. "court is adjourned"

I stood up slowly trying to process what just happened.

Cassidy ran to Julius, who smirked at me.

I just stood up and walked out the court with tears falling down my face.

I got in my car and drove home. Tristan followed behind me. He comforted me as I cried.

After an hour, my door bust open revealing D and Tori.

"How'd it go? You won right? I knew it!" D said smiling.

I just shook my head and wiped my tears. I didn't feel like talking, so Tristan spoke for me.

"She didn't win. Julius got full custody."

"Oh hell nah. That fine ass chocolate motherfucker gots ta go." D said.

"Rhis is not the time D." I managed to say.
