You decide to give Hideki your number, just in case he needs someone to talk to.

Regardless of your caring nature you showed towards him in the morning, now you lay on your bed, crying, completely forgetting everything else except for Light.

"Hmm, why's she crying?" he says, leaning closer to his computer screen.

"His love was a lie!" you say, in between sobs.

"(Y/N), that doesn't matter now, look at what's right in front of you. I make you hate Light, but you still can't stop thinking about him... I just want to text her and tell her I love her, but that wouldn't be appropriate right now,"

He stops and thinks for a second.

"Wait, maybe it would be. I just have to use the right approach... If anything, I now know exactly how I can talk to her," he says to himself, grabbing his other phone, starting to text you.

You feel your phone in your pocket buzz, so you wipe up your tears to clear your vision.

You see it's a text from an unknown number.

"Hello, this is Hideki." it reads.

"Hey Hideki, what's up?" you type.

"To be frank, l can't stop thinking about Light being Kira. It's very unsettling."

You sniff, and start to type your kind words, genuine from your heart.

"I promise it's going be okay, Hideki."

L smiles while reading this.

'Sympathetic hearts are very easy to take advantage from, (Y/N).'

"Thank you, (Y/N). May I ask why you're being so kind to me? People usually push me away before getting to know me. Never in my life have I been able to talk about my feelings with another individual. You are the sweetest, kindest person I've ever met."

That is probably the most honest he has ever been with you, although, he's still using these words to get into your head.

You, foolishly, let his subtle affection deceive your heart. Your soul is overwhelmed with happiness, knowing you've helped someone feel better.

"I try my best to do what I can. And to be honest, you're probably my only friend right now."

L stops. The word rings over and over again in his head.

'Friend? No one has ever called me their 'friend' before. And I'm her only friend? This must be a trick. How can I be her only friend? She's beautiful, talented, intelligent, kind... But I haven't seen her with anyone else. She can't be bluffing...'

You wait for a reply, but it doesn't come.

You sigh and say to yourself, "Although he's a little weird, he's kind of cute in his own way."

L stares at the screen with his mouth slightly open, blushing.

"I'm...cute?"

He watches you all night as you sleep in your bed, observing and thinking about every detail on your body.

"I think I like her smile most, although her body is nice too," he mumbles.

"And to take in the fact that this beautiful woman thinks I'm cute?"

L plops a whole cherry in his mouth, thinking about what you two would do together if you were in a relationship.

He swishes it around, eats the cherry part, spits out the seed, and proceeds to tie the stem in a knot.

He imagines himself laying on top of you, passionately kissing your lips, all the while feeling your body. This escalates into further sexual acts.

After his fantasy ends, the tied cherry stems stack at least ten inches tall.

"It's clear she doesn't want a relationship with me; this can never happen," he mutters, keeping his frustration inside.

"Watari," he calls for his partner.

"Yes L, what is it," he walks in and asks.

L doesn't take his eyes off the computer.

"Tomorrow, while (Y/N) is at school, I want you to put at least one camera and bug in each room of her house. No exceptions."

"Yes, L." he says, not negotiating.

Watari leaves the room to call his men.

L flinches when he hears your scream from inside your room.

You are awakening from a bad dream.

You gasp for air, trying to come back to reality. Eventually the gasps slow down, making you gather your thoughts. Realizing you are sweating, you wipe off your face and cover yourself up with sheets, attempting to fall back asleep.

L tilts his head in wonder.

'What is she dreaming about...
I know for a fact that people can sometimes tell the future, more or less, in sleep... This could be a problem, but it'll be easy to solve tomorrow.

L falls asleep, still crouched in his chair, for five minutes before it's time to get up.
