The drive back to my apartment was quick and quiet, thankfully.
There was an awkward silence the whole time I was in McCarthy's car.
We made some conversation to occupy the silence such as McCarthy making snarky comments about Liam and his overprotectiveness. McCarthy even threw in a, "Are you sure he's not you boyfriend? Because I'm not so sure he got that message", hopefully jokingly.
Overall the hushed sounds of the car took up most of the time in our short drive. I would've made a bigger deal out of the awkward silence if I didn't have such a raging headache.
I directed McCarthy to my apartment complex and he parked on the side of the road. I unfastened my seatbelt, grabbed my bag, and opened the passenger door gently.
"Thanks for the ride. I'll see ya in class, Mr. McCarthy" I let out as I began to shut the door.
McCarthy swiftly called out my name before the door shut.
"Yeah?"
"You can call me Alec."
He smiled warmly at me.
WHAT THE FUC-fudge. What the fudge?!?!
"Oh. Uh, okay. Thanks." I smiled stiffly and sent him a small wave as I turned around swiftly and let my feet carry me over to the entrance of my apartment building. I could feel McCart-Alec's gaze on me as I was rushing to enter the building.
How was I supposed to react?
My teacher just told me to call him by his first name?
As I got in I turned the corner so I was out of view and took a deep breath.
Oh. My. God.
I could really use Tessa's motherly advice right now. That and sleep.
So much was going through my head it made my headache even worse.
Alec.
Alec McCarthy.
It's not a bad name, I thought as I turned the key to my door and walked in. I casually threw my bag on the floor next to the sofa as I crashed on the sofa letting out a loud groan.
"Woah, girlfriend. Long day?-Wait aren't you supposed to be in a class right now?"
Yay.
Tessa's home!
And not Ash!
I love Ash but he lives for drama, while Tessa always finds a way to solve it. Which is why she's the best listener and gives the best advice.
I looked up at my beautiful brunette best friend. Man, my best friend's really got lucky in the gene pool didn't they?
Tessa was tall and thin with a tan caramel skin tone. She had long wavy brunette locks and hazel eyes. She was a light skinned african american, but she was the ideal image of a bronzed Greek Goddess. She was just an inch shorter than Ash, so lucky for me I never have to reach for anything again with my two besties.
Tessa's vibe was so calming and soothing like a motherly hug with great advice.
She's the sound of the waves crashing gently with a soft breeze flowing through your hair.
Tessa's a warm cup of freshly brewed coffee on a chilly fall day with the colorful leaves flying through the sky around you.
She's all the colors of the sunset blended together with perfect harmony.
In other words, Tessa is the understanding best friend everyone dreams to have.
When she sends a heartfelt dimpled smile, your insides melt.
Which is what she was sending my way now.
Calming my anxiety, instantly.
Oh, how lucky I am to have Tessa here right now.
I can't wait for her comforting advice.
