*static* "So why are we up here again?" Said a satellite mechanic.

*static* "Because this satellite needs very fine tune ups every time it is used, you know this Paul," Said another.

These satellite mechanics are the only ones in physical contact with the space laser satellite but have no say in when it fires. At this time they are doing calibrations on the laser its self which is not automated (making it more dangerous for the person doing the calibration) meaning one person has to go into the firing mechanism.

*static* "Alright activate quadrant one, Travis," Paul said.

*static* "Copy, activating quadrant one," Travis said.

*static* "Power down, looks good," Paul said. "Activate quadrant two."

*static* "Copy, activating quadrant two," Travis said.

An alarm started to sound.

*static* "Get out of there the satellite is starting to prime!" Travis said in a panic.

*static* "I can't the access hatch shut and locked, try to manually power down the laser," Paul said.

*static* "No good, the controls are switched to remote now it will not respond to me," said Travis.

*static* "It was great working with you, Travis, I'll see you on the other side." Paul said before the radio was taken over with static.

"Dammit, dam all of this," Travis said with pain in his voice. "I'm going to make the emperor pay for this even if it is the last thing I do."

About twenty miles outside of the southern gate of the town there was a snare trap and in it was Katie.

"Just hanging around?" I asked in a pun.

"Yeah yeah, just get me down," Katie demanded.

"Hang on I'll get the weapons from the ground before we cut her down," I said.

As I was picking up the weapons I heard a slight thud and snapped to look at it and it was a grenade. I reacted and threw it farther away from me and it went off mid-air about nine feet away from me.

"What the... alright drop everything you have that can kill me if you use it," I said.

"That's all I had left, I swear on my life," she said.

"Alright cut her down and I will catch her," I said.

Zeik cut the rope and I caught her. We used the rest of the rope to bind her hands together and we made our way back to the town. She was struggling the entire way there. When we got there Greg, Frank, and Alex were waiting there.

"Hey, Alex do you know what was in your arm at Franks house?" I asked

"I think it was a kind of tracker and brainwashing device," Alex replied. "Why are you asking?"

"Do you know where it is located?" I asked.

"Yes and I think I know what the next question will be, yes," she answered.

Later that day we got the doctors to try and remove the device from Katie's wrist. After Katie was out cold. We put her in a hospital room and had two guards in the room and two on the other side of the door. all of the guards were told to non-lethally disarm.

The next day I was back to training and was like that for a week.

"So I was thinking of heading out soon to find the last person in my dad's address book," I said.

"Ok, who is next in the book," Greg said.

"Sam Lycin," I said.

"That name sounds familiar," Zeik said.

"What's the location?" Greg asked.

"South-west of here," I said.

We waited for a couple of days before leaving to make sure that Katie wasn't going to try to run and report to the emperor about what is going on here. Alex went into the room and when she came out:

"Is she back to normal?" I asked.

"Yes but she needs to stay in bed because the wound hasn't healed up all the way yet," Alex said.

"Ok, we will do what we did with you," I said grabbing the stretcher. " Alright, let's move her to the stretcher."

We moved Katie to the stretcher and started out toward the town to the south-west.
