About fifty miles out we were ambushed by a group of rogue military soldiers.

"What the... where did they come from?" Alex asked.

"Everyone, get to cover!" I ordered.

"Anyone know how many there are?" Frank asked.

"I count about twelve, maybe more in the trees," Zeik said.

I peeked out of the cover and found they are not using normal ambush strategies. I shot a couple rounds then noticed that there was an invisible shield around them.

"Hold fire!" I ordered.

"What have you found out?" Zeik asked.

"They aren't using normal ambush strategies and there is an invisible shield around them and I'll bet if bullets aren't getting through then a grenade is not going to," I replied.

"Then what do we do?" Alex asked.

"Well... you are invincible aren't you?" One of the squad members asked.

"Yes, I know what you are thinking and no," I said.

"Why not?" He asked.

"Because we don't know what happens if he gets shot in the head or the heart," Walter said walking up like the rouge soldiers weren't there.

"Get down, What are you doing here?!" I yelled.

"I thought you could use some backup." He replied.

Then Walter pulled an odd looking gun from his inside jacket pocket.

"Where did you get that?!" Frank and Greg yelled in unison.

"Why do you both sound distressed?" I asked.

"Because that thing is the most dangerous thing on the planet but not just for the person on the other end, but the operator its self," Greg answered.

"Then what is it?" I asked.

"It's a mobile railgun," Frank said.

"Why is it so dangerous?" I asked.

"Because the first test of that thing it sliced the operator in half," Greg answered. "And it was supposed to be locked away in the safe about one hundred miles below ground."

At that moment there was a loud bang and then a whoosh and the rogue soldiers were gone.

"How did that work?" Greg asked

"I modified the output and lowered the weight of the projectile," Walter said.

"The chances of it still failing were still pretty high," I said.

After Greg was finished yelling at Walter we continued toward the town to the south-west. When we got to a ridge that overlooked the town we were greeted with gunshots and I was hit in the leg.

"Hold your fire, we're friendlies!" I yelled in agony.

There was no answer except my echo. we moved forward and there was another gunshot but this time I knew it was a warning shot and one more step and they will start killing us.

"Huh... did you hear that?" I asked.

"No what did you hear?" Greg asked.

"I don't know exactly it sounded like a radio chime for signaling the release of the PTT button," I said.

I backed away from the edge still in agony and checked the bushes not too far from where we were. There was a woman there with a gun pointed right at me.

"One more step and I'll shoot!" She said.

"Ok ok put the gun down, we aren't here with bad intentions," I said.

I moved a little closer and she shot me in the arm between the shoulder and the elbow but closer to the shoulder.

"Hey!" Zeik said.

The entire squad got ready to shoot.

"Hold fire, put your guns down! I'm ok did you forget I'm immortal," I said with little pain in my voice.

"How did you... what are you... who are you?" The woman asked.

"Allen Ernest and yours?" I asked.

"Debera Lycin my sister is Sam Lycin," Debera said.

"Nice to meet you, could you please show me to your sister I have business with her," I said.

"You're not from the capital are you?" She said.

"No, we are freelancers, part of a group called The Beginning of the End," I said.

"Oh ok then fallow me," Debera said.

We got to the town and were escorted to an office building in the center.

"What have I told you about bringing outsiders in Debera?!" Sam said.

"Sorry but they say they have business with you," Debera said.

"There is only one person that has the location of this place," Sam said. "Well if it isn't Allen Ernest."

"Nice to meet you Sam Lycin," I said. "I guess that also means you know why I'm here?

"Yes I've had a hunch that that good for nothing emperor would do what he did," Sam said.
