All night and day I stayed by Alex's side and she woke periodically but shortly after fell back to sleep.

"She up yet?" Katie asked.

"No, not yet," I replied.

It had been one or two days now and I was starting to get worried.

"Hey, Allen wanna to go and blow off some steam?" Rudy asked.

"Yeah," I answered.

We went to the crater that was made from the solar laser.

"No holding back," I said.

"Wasn't counting on it," Rudy said.

Rudy and I would spar back in the day to prove who was the best. Each of us started at one end of the crater and rudy tossed a bullet in the air once it hit the ground we started. In the blink of an eye, I started toward the center and Rudy did the same. I dodged under his roundhouse kick and blocked his left hook then threw a right hook and it caught his jaw.

"Nice hit," Rudy said.

"Remeber, no holding back," I said.

He then proceeded to go for my right leg to flip me I dodged and knocked him off balance and put him in a full nelson and he tapped out.

"You win, again," Rudy said.

I heard a gunshot and heard it ricochet somewhere to my right.

"Who is that kid? He is the one that I saw in the doorway of Alex's room," I said.

"His name is Tanner," Rudy said. "I thought I told him to stay in his room."

He fired another shot and it grazed my arm leaving a large gash.

"What is that gun?" I asked.

"Beretta .50 caliber," Rudy said.

"But that means that he thinks that I was trying to kill you," I said.

"Exactly what I was thinking," Rudy said. "Tanner put the gun down!"

"Who is he in relation to you?!" Tanner yelled back.

"My friend from back in the day. We were sparing like back in the day," Rudy replied.

Tanner set the gun down on the side of the crater and walked away.

"So, who is he in relation to you?" I asked on the way up the crater.

"Uh... Step-brother I think that's a fitting term," Rudy said.

"Hey, can I see the Beretta?" I asked.

"Sure, just be careful," Rudy answered.

I was surprised by the weight of the gun.

"Wow, it's heavier than I thought," I said.

I aimed the gun into the crater after pulling the clip out and fired.

"A lot more kick too," I said.

"Still isn't your style," Rudy said.

"You are right, I like to be on the field myself," I said.

Later that night I was looking through my father's address book and found that there was no one else in the book but there was a note for me from my father; Allen if you are reading this then that means you have found all of my colleagues. They are good people and I trust them to help you with the situation that I am in. I implore you to read my journal if you still have it.

"Hey, I'm sorry for trying to kill you earlier," Tanner said.

"It's ok, come on over and sit down," I replied.

He walked over and sat down. We both sat in silence for a good hour or so until Rudy called us back for dinner.

"Ok, we're coming," Tanner and I said in unison.

I heard talking about ten feet from the house.

"You sure you're ok to be out of bed instead of recovering," Katie said.

"Yeah I'm feeling a lot better and thought I should exercise my legs," Alex said.

"She's awake," I said excitedly.

I rushed to the house.

"Alex, I was starting to get worried," I said as I wrapped my arms around her.

"Who are you?" Alex said.

"This is a joke right?" I asked.

"No," Rudy said pulling me outside. "She has amnesia."

Something changed in me and I could feel it, not just the heartbreak.

"Hey, you ok," Rudy said.

I undid the strap holding my gun in the holster and started to draw the gun, but Frank grabbed it before I could.

"What were you going to do with this?" Frank asked.

"I don't know," I answered.
