A couple days later, I asked Greg if there was someplace I could do some gun practice.

"Yes, there is the gun range behind the jail and there is one a couple blocks from here that we made," Greg replied.

"I'll try the one that is a couple blocks from here," I said.

He guided me there and I couldn't believe my eyes, it was an entire training facility designed to train soldiers for battle.

"I had taken the liberty of reserving the entire place for you to train as much as you need," Greg said. "And I'll be your instructor."

"Really?!" I answered in excitement. "That's great."

"Let's get started then," Greg said. "How about seeing the extent of your shooting?"

We went to the shooting range and Greg told me to shoot the entire clip into the target and try to hit the bull's eye on it. The target was set to 10 meters away and I used the guns he had set out.

"Are you sure you aren't a trained mercenary?" Greg said in a joking tone. "You hit the bull's eye and the grouping is really close together."

"My dad trained me to shoot a gun," I said.

He then had me do a type of obstacle course and by the end of it, I was tired.

The next morning I was rudely awoken to someone playing reveille and Greg walked in.

"Get up private," Greg said.

"uh... Just five more minutes." I said in a murmur.

He then ripped the blanket out from underneath me and then I was on the floor.

"Hey, what the heck?!" I asked.

"You are the one who wanted to learn the ropes and I am going to teach you," Greg said.

He got me there. After a couple more days I got used to the wake-up routine and was saluting as soon as reveille played. While I was at "Boot camp" Alex had gone to the jail to check on Katie and she was gone.

"Huh? But how?" Alex said in a confused tone. "Where did she?"

Alex went for the alarm but it was deactivated deliberately.

"No. No no no. This isn't happening." Alex said.

"Sh... She is powerful." A guard on the floor just barely staying alive from a stab wound in his abdomen.

"What happened?" Alex asked trying to tend to his wound.

"I was giving her the rations and she reached out and stabbed me with my own knife, took the keys from my belt, let herself out, cut the alarm and ran." He said.

"She could be anywhere by now," Alex said.

"Is everything ok?" Frank asked running in.

"No, Katie got out," Alex said.

As soon as Greg and I got back to the living quarters Alex came running to us and in a panicked tone said that Katie escaped and that she could be anywhere by now.

"Calm down, There are guards everywhere and if they see her they will stop her from leaving," I said.

"Ok," Alex said.

When Alex had gone out to help with gathering materials I turned to Greg:

"Reinforce your guards that are stationed around the town," I said. "She is stronger than she looks."

"Roger that! Trever, Ruth, Ezeikial, and Marcus get your teams together and in that order northern gates, eastern gates, southern gates, and western gates." Greg said. "Allen I want you to support one of these squads, choose one."

I had to think for a couple seconds.

"I'll go with Ezeikial," I said.

"Good to meet you my name is Ezeikial Quincy, you can just call me Zeik," Zeik said.

We went to the southern gate and what we saw was horrifying. The guards there were dead and it looked like a scene from a chainsaw massacre movie.

"Are they all dead?" I asked in a sheepish tone.

"I think so," Zeik said as he turned to the rest of the squad. "Alright check the bodies."

We checked them; an assault rifle and a pistol were missing. Zeik used a radio to contact Greg and explain the situation.

"Alright, I'll send a group to clean up and guard the gate, your group proceed after her," Greg said.
