x || chapter eighteen

         After lunch, I stray away from the group. Hoping that I'd be able to catch Buddy in a good spot. Maya had been right about one thing, I was staring. But it wasn't because he was hot, it was because all of a sudden, an attraction I'd had for him years before sprouted once again. I couldn't pinpoint why or when it started, but all I had known was that it did, and I wanted to do something about it.

Five minutes passed and eventually, I caught Buddy heading to the restroom. I moved away from their Buds Burger Banzee wall, a photo gallery dedicated to those who ate their three-pound burger in under five minutes and caught Buddy in the nick of time. With an eager smile on his face, he turned to me.

At this point, the diner was empty, hopefully leaving us all the time in the world. Or at least I hoped.

"I was wondering, well, more like hoping, to know when you got off?" I smiled cheekily in hopes of throwing him off guard to how nervous I was.

Buddy chuckled, a good sign I hoped.

"You don't see it do you?"

"W-What?" I stuttered.

Buddy shook his head and shifted his weight from one foot to the other, "I don't want to embarrass the poor guy, but that boy you were sitting next to hasn't taken his eyes off of you since you stepped foot into the diner."

"Jack?" I scoffed, "no way. He's an old friend."

Buddy shrugged, "maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully I am, because I would love to go out with you."

"YES!" I quickly cleared my throat, "yes, great. I'll uh, I'll message you, or stop by, either one."

"Good," bud laughed, "see ya then."

"Bye," I waved, a big smile plastered onto my face.
