January 12, 2016.
I had been pregnant for about 7 weeks. I was so nauseous and tired. All I wanted to eat was junk food. I wasn't sure what I could and couldn't eat, so I looked I up. I found that the baby could live off of a Cheerio I ate a month ago. It doesn't take much. I could basically eat as much junk as I wanted as long as I didn't mind gaining weight, which I wasn't. I had lost weight at first, but around week seven, I started to bring it back up.
It was time to tell people. I needed to go to the OBGYN without fear of rumors. We needed to take tests for genetic mutations and we could go in to listen for the heartbeat too.
We both made public statements on Twitter and Facebook. I also posted a picture on Instagram of my before body. I wanted to post for each month. Ashton left a stupid comment saying something like, 'That's my hot baby mamma.'
"Are you excited?" Ashton asked me as we walked into the OBGYN.
"I guess. I'm also scared that something is going to be wrong."
"I know. I am too. But what are the changes?" He asked with a smile.
"They are high, they are very high." I frowned.
He grabbed my hand. "It's okay. This is going to be fine."
We went in to see my new doctor. After answering questions and getting my blood for a test, it was time for the ultrasound.
The doctor squeezed the cold liquid on my bare stomach.
I winced and laughed uncomfortably. "It's cold." I smiled.
He rubbed the my stomach with the transducer. The image of my uterus appeared on the screen.
"That's your baby." The doctor pointed a sunflower seed sized blob on the screen.
I smiled and looked up at Ashton. He smiled down at me and grabbed my hand.
"Would you like to hear the heartbeat?" The doctor asked.
"Yes." I answered quickly.
He hit a few buttons and then we heard it. There was a heartbeat. It was alive. There was a person growing inside of me.
The doctor switched it off. "I'll leave you two alone. Feel free to leave when you are ready." He moved to the door. "I'll see you in a week with the blood test results and another check up."
I could only just nod to reply. After the doctor shut the door, I looked up at Ashton.
He was smiling and I started to tear up.
"It...it didn't really seem real at first." He said. "But it is. It has a heartbeat." He grabbed my hand and kissed it.
"I know! I heard it." I smiled. "But I know what you mean. It just felt like I was sick, but there is something growing inside of me."
"That was all I could have hoped it to be." He added.
"Me too." I smiled.
We left and went off to tell everyone who cared to listen.
