Dear Stranger,
I have today been made Captain of the new task force aimed at fighting and eliminating people’s nightmares. I don’t really know what to say or think or do. It was such a shock. And it was Kit’s idea. That’s what the meetings were about.
I don’t understand why.
He said it was because of how much I cared, that he knew how personal all the cases were for me, that people listened to me and that I had a natural ability to think outside the set parameters.
He’s going to be supervising and advising me, he’ll be my superior but the squad is mine. I could’ve punched him. I’m not a leader. I’m only twenty. I’ve only been working with him on cases for nearly three years. He said I was a natural choice. When pushed he admitted that it took some convincing of the chiefs of the department to choose me but he did it.
I’ve been assigned fifty enforcers and been given three months to turn them into a coherent, nightmare fighting squad. Thanks Kit. Thanks heaps.
We begin tomorrow.
