Say You Wont Let Go

I know it said the car pulled up right after the call but pretend it's been a bit. I didn't realize I wrote it like that.

A car pulled up. It was Jake. "You know where she is?" I asked him. "She's in one of two places, Back and Logans or the park" he said. "The park?" I asked. "It's the one place she can escape, no matter where she liv-. No matter where she visited she liked nature. It's surreal, a good place to be alone to thoughts" he explained. "Or she's at Logans. I hope not" he said. "Why?" I asked. "If she tells Logan that Daniel did something, me and you both know he won't let her go to this party" he said. Jake stayed to help the boys finish preparing for the party, while I went to go get Ellie. Good fucking job Daniel. I pulled up to the park. "Ellie!" I said to someone laying on the ground. She lifted her shades confused and I saw it wasn't Ellie. I walked down the trail and I heard a branch break. I walked into the woods where I heard it and I saw Ellie sitting under a tree. "Ellie...." I started. She looked at me. "You talked to Jake didn't you...." she said. I nodded. "I need to talk to you." I said. "What. You wanna tell me how you one upped Daniel?" She snapped. "What...." I said. "Don't play dumb. I'm sick of you two bickering." She said. I sat next to her. "Ellie, He got mad and he said some shit to you at the store. I promise I'm done with the one upping. He obviously doesn't love you if he keeps burdening you with it....." I said. "I guess you're right" she said. I convinced her to come home. As we drove I was getting nervous. She didn't know about the party. She must just think we're going home. They heard the car door close and they all got down and ready. I didn't see Daniel. What the fuck Daniel. I know you're mad but you stood up Ellie's party? That's fucked up. She opened the door and no one moved. "Hey Jonah can I ask you something?" She asked. Before I could respond, everyone jumped up. "SURPRISE!!" I joined them. All the boys (except Daniel) Logan, Jake, August, David, and Eben were there. "What...." she said tearing up. We partied, and decided to cut the cake. There was a 1 and a 8 candle to show she was 18. I asked Logan and I got her a chocolate layer cake. It was a bit over the top but nothing is too much for Ellie.

We played games and swam. Daniel called. I snuck away to answer.

When I returned to the party most everyone was drying off. Zach montioned to me that it was time for the surprise. I whistled to signal Corbyn to walk in playing guitar. "Say You Won't Let Go" By James Author is one of Ellie's favorites. It came on the radio the other day and she told me she loved it. Jack started playing the keyboard that was hiding outside, Zach did background music while I sang the song to her. She started tearing in a happy way. She told me she hated when people sang Happy Birthday because it's so traditional, and unoriginal. After we sang she ran up and hugged me. "AWWWW" everyone said in unison. We kissed and August got a cute picture. She opened presents.  Logan got her a memory book that showed photos of her him and Jake throughout the years. Jake got her a starter vlog camera. The boys all chipped in and got a skateboard and guitar. They marked all over them with different cute messages. Eben got her a gift card along with David. August got her a camera lens upgrade. My present was yet to be given. She thought it was the camera I gave her earlier this week. Logan signaled Eben to bring the box in. "Yo, Eben whatcha hiding over there" he said in a way that was meant to sound planned. Eben brought out a blue box with a green bow. Logan and Jake vlogged her open it. She opened it and out popped the little corgi from the adoption fair. She freaked! "OH MY GOD JONAH!!!" The little puppy had a red bow tie around his neck and he began to lick Ellie so much. "He needs a name" Logan said. "I'll name him-" the back door opened. We saw Daniel. Everyone looked at him. "What? This is my house to!" He rolled his eyes and sat down to watch. The puppy jumped down and sniffed Daniels shoes. "Hey buddy" he laughed. He ran back to Ellie. "So since he's living with us...." Logan started. Lidia (Logans new assistant) brought Kong out. The two got along so well! Everyone started funneling out as the party concluded. Ellie insisted that people take some cake home. We had to much!! Everyone headed to bed except me and Ellie. "Thank you Jonah. Best birthday ever. Hands down." She said. We hugged and I kissed her forehead. "August recorded the good parts" I said. "I'll watch it a lot probably" she smiled. We laid down to sleep and little puppy had something to say about sleeping with us. Ellie pulled him up and he snuggled in between us. "He's our fur-baby Jonah" she said. "I didn't think I'd be a dad so young" I joked. "Baby boy needs a name still..." I said. She looked at me and then at the puppy. She smiled and said "what about-
