Chapter 38: Liam's Gift

Bella's P.O.V.

I spent the rest of the night in Jasper's arms as usual. That is until we were rudely interrupted by Peter and Emmett. There was a knock on our door. "Bella!" Emmett said, then more knocking. "Jasper!" Peter shouted, then they knocked again. "Hey you guys! Get up and get dressed!" Emmett yelled. Jasper pulled away from me slightly and rolled his eyes. "What do you guys want now? We are busy!" He said as he winked at me and I giggled. "We're going hunting with Charlotte. You guy should come with us." Peter told us through the door. Jasper sighed. "Jaz, maybe we should go I could check my theory about the mountain lion making me sick." I said. "Ok... fine. We will be down in a minuet." Jasper said releasing his hold on me.

I put my hair up in a messy bun and threw on some skinny jeans and a red t-shirt. I was pulling on my brown boots just as Jasper was finishing dressing and we went down the stairs to meet the guys. I was a little nervous about going hunting. What if I was wrong about the mountain lion making me sick? What if there really was something more seriously wrong with me? Either way I realized there was no point in getting all worked up about it. Besides there is really only one way to find out for sure. So I took Jasper's hand and followed the others into the forest.

When we had ran about five miles into the forest, we split up. Peter and Charlotte went east and Emmett, Jasper, and I went west. "come on guys, lets find a grizzly bear!" Emmett said taking the lead. Jasper and I laughed but followed him anyway. We ran for ten more minuets, when Emmett stopped dead in his tracks and dropped into a low crouch. He turned my way and motioned for me to join him. I have never seen Emmett so serious but I went and crouched next to him. "we are in luck, there are two of them!" He said. I nodded in recognition, there were in fact two large grizzly bears just a few feet in front of us. "I'll take the one on the left and you can have the other." he said quietly. Three second later we pounced on our prey.

I landed on my unsuspecting grizzly's back causing him to growl and roll over trying to get me to release my hold on him. I decided to play with my food for once, o I released the bear and crouched down in front of him. The bear stood up on his hind legs and roared loudly. I laughed at his attempt to intimidate me. Then I leaped towards him, tackling him to the ground. He swiped at me angrily with his claws, striking my face, abdomen, and legs. He did no damage to my body of course but he did manage to ruin the bottom of my shirt and completely shred my jeans. Emmett was right, hunting bears was fun but I had had enough. so I sunk my teeth into his jugular and drained the sweet ambrosia from his veins.

Jasper was leaning against a tree laughing when I turned around. "how was your first grizzly bear, Isabella?" He asked. "Amazing!" I said with a smirk as blood trickled from the side of my mouth and dripped down my chin. Jasper walked over to me and whipped away the blood with his finger before placing it in his mouth. I agree" he said before pulling me close and kissing me deeply. When Emmett was done playing with his dinner, we met up with Peter and Charlotte and headed home.

When we got back to the house I said "See Jasper, I must be fine because I didn't get sick again." with a smile. " I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch, Buttercup." Peter said cryptically. The smile quickly fell from my face. I felt confident that I wasn't sick but Peter knows shit and he was usually right.

An hour later we were sitting in the game room watching Emmett, Peter, and Jasper play black ops two zombies. They were all so competitive, it was funny. I was having a great time just watching them play when suddenly I started to feel really hot. That is not normal for a vampire who's skin is as cold as ice. Then I started feeling dizzy and light headed. oh no, not again I thought as I ran at vampire speed to the bathroom.

I barely made it to the toilet before I started throwing up the delicious grizzly bear I had earlier, which did not taste nearly as good coming up as it did going down. Within seconds Jasper was by my side, holding my hair back as I emptied my stomach.

Jasper's P.O.V.

An hour after Isabella got sick again Carlisle and Esme arrived. He checked her over as soon as he got here but found nothing physically wrong with her. then he took her up to his office and they had been discussing her symptoms and going over and over her two hunting and subsequent vomiting experiences. all I had felt for the last two hours was Isabella's nervousness and irritation and Carlisle's worry and confusion. it was not helping me calm my own fears for my mates safety.

"very soon, be here, will Alice and Liam" Said Peter sounding exactly like Yoda. I laughed and within a few moments I could feel Alice's excitement and Liam's nervousness. When they came inside Esme, Rosalie, and Charlotte hugged them both, while Peter, Emmett, and I hugged Alice and shook Liam's hand. "You said you knew what is wrong with Isabella, spill it." I said abruptly to Alice before she could even sit down. "Yes, I do. Bella, Carlisle, could you please come down here so we can have a family meeting?" She said loudly even though it wasn't necessary.

When Isabella and Carlisle came down from his office we all sat down in the living room except for Alice and Liam who remained standing. "Ok ... so I called this family meeting because a few days ago I had a vision about Bella." Alice said happily. "Yeah, we all know that. so why don't you tell us what's wrong with my mate." I said quickly becoming irritated. "Well jasper, technically there is nothing 'wrong' with Bella." she said. "See I told you I was fine." sang Bella happily a she squeezed my hand. "Oh no, there is obviously something going on with Isabella! NOW TELL ME WHAT IT IS!" I growled at Alice.

"Yeah there is and it has to do with Liam's gift so I will let him explain it." Alice said taking a step back to allow her mate to have everyone's attention. I felt confusion coming from everyone but Alice and Liam. "I never knew you had a gift, Liam." Carlisle said. "well almost no one does, Carlisle. its just safer that way." Liam said sadly. "what do you mean safer?" I asked quickly. "well if the Volturi or any other powerful vampires ever found out about my gift they would either use me for my power or kill me." He replied.

"Your safe here, Liam. So tell us Dear, what exactly is your power?" Esme asked. I could feel that Liam was very nervous and afraid and I was tired of waiting so I sent him a huge wave of confidence.

"Fertility, my gift is the power of fertility." Liam said leaving us all shocked.
