"Austin?" I ask as I knock at his front door. No answer. I wiggle the door knob to see if it was unlocked, but it wasn't. It never is. I knock once again, but he still didn't answer. Groaning in annoyance I pick up a small pebble and threw it at his window. I wait for a few minutes until my phone starts ringing.
"Hello?" I answer without looking who it was.
"Please just go away, Allison. I don't want to come with you." said a very familiar voice. Austin's voice.
I look up and see Austin looking down at me from his bedroom window.
"Please Austin? We don't have to do anything stupid... If that's what you're afraid of."
"I'm not coming, I already told you that."
He leaves his window and I can hear him shuffling around through the phone. Next thing I know he opens the front door.
I press end call and walk over to him."Please come Austin." I say, giving him a hug and noticing that his eyes are all red and puffy.
"Austin? What's wrong? Why does it look like you were crying?" I ask, my voice full of concern.
"Nothing, I'll... I'll come with you. Just, can we not go in if Jake wants us too?" he stutters as he grabs his coat and starts walking toward my car.
We both get in the car, but all I can think about is 'Why was Austin crying?' so me being me, I ask him again.
"Austin, please, tell me what's wrong."
"Allis-"
"Please? You use to tell me everything. Why can't you tell me this?"
"Fine." he huffs in annoyance. "The whole Garret thing... I know who killed him."
"Yeah, so do I. The spirits in the clock tower." I roll my eyes.
"No, it wasn't spirits. Allison. It was your mom."
Right then and there, I stop the car, and get out... Austin doing the same.
I walk over to the curb trying to process what he just said. He follows me, placing his hands on my shoulders. Looking at me with regret in his eyes.
Crying, I ask him, "How? How do you know that? My mom is dead!" I scream, wanting answers now.
"No she isn't Allison."
