Grace, Abi, Sam, and I make our ways towards the clock tower. Not caring at all. We're running around, yelling, making jokes. Acting like little kids. I take a quick glance over my shoulder to see Allison and Austin sitting on the ground underneath a tree. They're not talking to each other, they're just playing around on their phones. I wondered why they weren't coming with us, but I'm not going to say anything to them. I respect their decision, plus Allison is super stubborn so there's no way I'm going to convince her to come with us, and Austin, well he just does whatever Allison does.
My thoughts were soon interrupted by a scream coming from behind me. I nearly jumped out of my skin at the sudden noise. I look around and see Abi, Grace, and Sam all laughing at me. Those little scum bags.
"Haha, very funny!" I say sarcastically as I brush past them. I step inside the clock tower, my eyes scanning my surroundings. It's dark, dusty, and smelled like mildew. I cover my nose and continue walking, Grace, Abi, and Sam following close behind.
You could hear the clock ticking, and gears moving and every once in a while you'll hear a faint chime.
In the corner of the tower were spiral stairs that took you to the top of the tower. I start walking towards the stair when I hear a squeal coming from one of the girls behind me.
"Eeeek!" Grace squeals, "It's so dusty! There's cobwebs everywhere!"
I roll my eyes at the girls. They're such babies!
"Grace, if you don't like the dust and cobwebs then maybe you should go hang out with Austin and Allison. Because trust me, there's going to be a lot of dust and cobwebs."
I was clearly annoyed with Grace. What did she expect? Did she think it was going to be super clean?
"No, I'm good." She whispered under her breath.
I continue leading my friends up the spiral stairs when I hear a quiet scream coming from the top.
"Did you hear that?" I whispered to Sam.
"Yeah," he began. "Do we keep going? Or no?"
I honestly don't know. I was scared to be honest. I didn't want Grace and Abi to know I was scared though because I know they would just make fun of me. Not that I can't handle it or anything, it just gets irritating after a while.
"What do you think?" I ask him quietly so the girls don't hear us.
"Maybe we should turn around." He suggests.
"Okay, but what do we tell the girls?"
"Just say it's getting late and we should try again tomorrow, and maybe Allison and Austin will be up for it."
Stupid plan, but it should be good enough.
"Hey," I spoke up. "I think we're gonna turn back. Try again tomorrow?"
"Fine by me." Abi says as she starts to head back down the stairs.
Nothing else was said after that. We all turn around and go back down the stairs. It's didn't take long before we made it back to the entrance, but that's when I noticed Grace was missing.
