(Present)
Right on que, it's 3 o'clock p.m. and I just pulled into a parking lot near the clock tower. I park my car, pull the keys out of the ignition, grab my smoothie, and hide my bag under the seat. I open the door and my first reaction was to shut the door. The air was cold, sending chills throughout my body. I reluctantly get out and slam my car door. Walking towards the clock tower I notice Grace and Abi waving their arms in the air, like one of those blow up dudes in front of gas stations or businesses. I just roll my eyes and continued walking towards them.
"It's about time you got here!" Abi says as I approach her.
"Hey! I got here right at 3 o'clock. Just like Jake said." I say, knowing Abi was just messing around.
I look around and notice Sam and Jake, but no Austin.
"Where's Austin?" I ask as I walk towards Sam and Jake.
"I don't know. We've tried calling him, but he won't answer. How about you try giving him a call."
Jake suggests.I take my phone out of my hoodies pocket and dial Austins number. It rings three times before I hear a click, indicating that he answered.
"Hello?" He answers, sounding sad.
"Austin? What's up? Why aren't you here?" I asked worried.
We've been best friends our whole life. I don't like the thought of him being sad.
"I'm not coming."
"Austin, I know it's hard for you to come back, it's hard for me, but you have to face your fears, I am."
"I don't know, Allison. I can't."
"You can. I'm coming to pick you up."
And with that I push end call.
I turn around to see Sam and Jake looking at me like I'm crazy.
"What?" I ask with a grin stuck to my face.
"How? What? Okay." They both stuttered.
"He never answered me when I called!" Jake complains.
"That's because he doesn't have a crush on you." Sam say with a smirk on his face.
"Whatever, y'all just jealous he answered me and not you."
I turn around and started walking towards my car to pick up sacredly cat Austin.
