I heard a knock at my door so I opened a portal to lead me to my door. One because I want to learn how to use it better and two I'm lazy. I looked through the peep hole to see an anxious Cisco and a disappointed Barry. I took a deep breath knowing I'll have to act as if I don't care about them when really, they mean the world to me.
"What do you want?" I ask casually, leaving the door shut. I could hear Cisco's thoughts clearly. He was upset, anxious, nervous, angry and felt betrayed. I'm pretty sure I heard my heart crack a little. "Is it true?" I heard Cisco's voice even though it was just a whisper. "Well duh. Barry showed you the recording and I know you were listening when I robbed the jewellery store." Barry sighed knowing I was acting as if I didn't care about them. "But... I trusted you, we trusted you. We let you into our lives and now you're saying you don't care." Again I'm pretty sure my heart cracked again. What have these people done to me? "It's all true Cisco. I don't care about you, any of you. I never did and never will. It was all an act so forget me and get over it." It's better if you do, I thought. "Malaya, please just..." I huffed hearing Barry plead helplessly. "What Barry? Lie to you and say I did care. Lie to you and say I'm not Shadow. Lie to you and say that I can change, that I can be good and help you protect Central City. Well I can't, that's not me and never will be me." I could hear Cisco crying and to my surprise I had to hold back tears, which is something I've never had to do. "Malaya... Please, don't... don't do this." Cisco's pleading was breaking my heart I could hear his thoughts and Barry's. It killed me. "I promise Malaya, that I'm not giving up on you. Never." Barry's words affected me more than I care to admit. "I don't believe in promises Mr Allen. I haven't for a long time and I'm not gonna start now." I said with as much confidence as possible. I looked though the peep hole to see tears running down Cisco's face and Barry's filling up. I took a deep breath to calm myself and said, "Look I don't care about you, I never did, so just leave and never come back, never look for me. Ever." They didn't say anything but I could hear their footsteps. They were leaving.
I ran over to the window, a couple minutes later I saw them walk out of the building. Cisco's was looking at his feet as he walked across the road. Once they were on the other side they looked up to me. It was then that I broke my promise to myself. When Crystal died I promised myself that I would never cry again. But I broke it as a single tear fell down my cheek.
I watched as they walked away. "It doesn't matter. Just move on and never look back." I told myself. And that's what I did. I packed a bag with clothes, toiletries, and money. Then teleported to god knows where, and left Central City for good.
