Why Would You Do This?

*LaMelos pov*

Half way through practice my mom came in. I looked over confused, as I watched her talk to the coach. "LaMelo go get changed youre excused," coach called after talking to my mom. I never miss practice. I nodded as I threw the ball to someone else. I went to the locker room and changed back in to my normal clothes. I walked out to my mom.

"get in the car cmon we need to go," she sighed, giving me sad eyes. I got in the front seat, knowing something was wrong.
"What happened mom?" I asked her as she started driving. She shook her head.
"Shelby," she sighed, glancing at me.
"What happened mom?!" I said, getting panicked.
"Youll see," she sighed. I leaned back in my seat and tapped my foot. What could have happened? Is she gonna be okay? I got my phone out and started texting her. She didn't reply.
"Mom! What happened to Shelby!?" I raised my voice, getting really nervous.
"Melo..." she pulled into the hospital, "Shelby tried to overdose on prescription medicine..." My heart sunk... im going to throw up. I felt numb... I shook my head at her.
"No she didn't," I teared up.
"She did, they pumped her stomach... and shes asleep right now..." my mom sighed and pulled me into a hug.
"Mom why would she do that?! Was I not good enough? Did I not make her happy enough?" i started crying, hugging back.
"I don't think this had anything to do with you Melo. I think its cause of her family situation," she nodded. I nodded too, as I just cried into her chest.

Once I calmed down we went into the hospital. My mom talked to the lady at the desk. I couldn't focus... My mind was everywhere. I just needed to see Shelby and make sure she is okay. I followed my mom to the elevator. my hands were shaking. "Hey its okay, shes okay," my mom smiled at me, reassuring. I nodded at her and took a deep breath. I ran my hands over my face and followed my mom to her room. I walked in slowly after her. her mom sat in the chair. She didn't seem to really care, she looked more annoyed. I looked over at the bed and there she laid. She was asleep, her skin was an unsettling pale color. Her chest slowly moving up and down. He hands by her side. She looked so sad... I walked over and sat down on the chair next to her bed. I placed my hand in hers, it was cold. I put my head on her arm and let a tear fall. "Baby why? why would you do this... i would've missed you so terribly bad... you are my everything.. and you almost took that away... why baby? I was always there for you and you could've talked to me and i could've helped... im sorry i wasn't there for you this time, im never going to let you out of my sight... i love you too much," i whispered to her. i rested my head in her lap as i rubbed her hand.

Then her hand held mine back...
