Bal: it starts with me & you

What really happened

*beginning exactly where the final chapter of the previous book ended, we open where book two closed*
Evie: Ben's dead?!
*everyone remained silent, looking to Belle who appeared to be trying to compose herself, she visibly had tears in her eyes but tried to cover up the pain she was feeling, Jay put an arm around Evie, prepared to be her emotional support, he knew how much it hurt to hear those words because it had hurt him too, he was their friend, their close friend, but when belle finally managed to speak their sadness was turned to confusion and shock*
Belle: not Ben
Lumiere: the king father
Evie: beast is dead?!
Cogsworth: I'm afraid so
Jay: but how? What happened?
Belle: Maleficent, she murdered him in cold blood, I want her, NOW! I want her to face me for this!
Evie: that might be a little bit difficult your highness
Belle: and why is that?
Jay: because Mal killed her, she drove a sword straight into her mother's heart
Evie: so that's where she was before Mal summoned her to the tunnel
Lumiere: my lady?
Belle: how is my son?
Cogsworth: well....

*less than a minute later Mal had run in with her spellbook in hand, she wasn't done fighting for him yet, she flicked through her spellbook at lightning speed until she found it, the spell that would save everything, she recited the spell to break her mother's magic which was now much weaker due to her death, once she had finished the spell she sealed it with a kiss, true loves kiss and the power of a daughter's love over a mother's hate had been combined together to create the ultimate force for good, she held his hand tightly as a ball of light began emanating from her, flowing from her to him until it had been fully absorbed into him, having given him everything she had left, she collapsed onto the bed across his chest, her eyes just stayed open long enough to see a sight that she'd been genuinely worried she'd never see again, he gasped back to life as his eyes opened wide, complete confusion and even slight fear all over his face as he tried to understand what had just happened, he saw Mal passed out over him and immediately his worry about himself just ceased and it was all about her in his mind, his heart had just stopped for over two minutes, he had literally been dead for over two minutes, and yet all was worried about was her, he was truly one of the most selfless men to have ever lived*
Ben: Mal?
*his voice was weak and raspy and he had no idea what was going on or why he felt quite so horrific but his concern fully remained with his unconscious wife, the doctors were immediately surrounding him, asking him all these questions, talking to him, telling him things but he couldn't make out any of it, it was all moving so fast, he felt like he couldn't move, it was all spinning in his head and then they took Mal away and he wanted to call out for her, he wanted to be the one to be holding her, he wanted to be making sure she was okay, he was scared for her, he had no idea what had happened, he just knew what he could see and what he could see was her, limp and lifeless, being carried away, he wanted to scream out for her, he wanted to plea with the doctors to make sure she was okay and just leave him, she meant more to him than his own life ever had or could, but he couldn't, he couldn't move, he couldn't make another word come out, he'd forced out her name on a rush of adrenaline but now it was all hitting him, he could barely even control his breathing, it was taking everything in him to steady his breaths, he slowly began to gain more lucidity but all he could think about was her*
