*it didn't take very long for Lumiere to arrive back, announcing Fairy godmother before leaving the room, closing the door behind FG once she had entered*
FG: your highness, my lady, might I ask the reason for my being summoned? Is there something wrong?
*Ben immediately looked to Mal, knowing she would not want to speak but that she would have to be the one to explain, she looked to him nervously and found him giving her a supportive look, not a smile, but the support was there*
Mal: it's about Bella
FG: oh?
Mal: something's wrong
FG: forgive me but I don't see how I can be of assistance?
Mal: it's not her health, it's her powers
FG: oh
Mal: I think she's like me, I think she's different
FG: surely you can't tell that yet, you're probably just imagining it
Mal: I'm not, Fairy Godmother I'm really not
*Mal begins to explain everything to fairy godmother, Ben listened intently to the details, noting how vague she'd actually been when speaking to him about it, fairy godmother listened, clearly shocked by what Mal was saying, upon being summoned she had been rather confused and before Mal started explaining she had just written them, more specifically her, off as new parents who were worrying about nothing as new parents had the tendency to do, but the more Mal said the more it became clear to FG that this was not Mal's imagination and that this would be a serious thing, when Mal finally finished speaking FG remained silent, much to Mal's dismay, Ben just sat quietly listening and trying to contemplate what was being said, he didn't have magic, he didn't know much about fairies beyond what he'd already been told, he knew a lot about many things, but he found most things regarding his wife, and now his two children as well, were a rather large unknown, he hadn't wanted to pry or overstep and she wouldn't talk to him about it unless she had to*
Mal: so? I'm right aren't I? I mean all that, it's not just a load of coincidences, there's something different about her isn't there?
FG: she shouldn't have this much power at his young age that is true, she's only one quarter fairy, her powers being this strong so early on, if they indeed are as strong as you say, is something rather odd
Mal: odd?! It's a little more than odd!
Ben: Mal, take a breath
Mal: I'm not a child Ben
Ben: Mal....
*they held each other's gaze for a moment before she pulled hers away, the glare having turned soft*
FG: you are right, odd isn't the right word
Mal: what do we do? there's gotta be something we can do
FG: are you still dampening the effects of her powers
Mal: yes
Ben: what?! You promised you'd stop!
Mal: I will! Once we've found a solution
Ben: I love you but you're insufferable sometimes
*she just rolled her eyes and ignored him, turning back to fairy godmother, hoping to find an answer in all her vast knowledge but she looked about as uncertain as Mal did about what they could do*
FG: I don't know what to say, there is so little known about someone like you...like her
Ben: how is that possible?
FG: because a fairy being born like that is so rare, the chances that Mal would have a child who was like her are ridiculously impossible
Mal: and yet here she is
FG: here she is
Ben: Mal can't keep doing this, is gonna start affecting her soon, I can figure that much out
FG: you are right, she can't
Mal: but I can't just let her powers go awry, she'd be....she'd be dangerous if I did
Ben: how bad?
Mal: when I lose it I can command the weather to turn to a storms around the whole kingdom without even trying, and I have some sort of control
Ben: oh
FG: is going to have to go and do some research, Mal can you hold on for a little while longer?
Mal: yeah, I'm fine
Ben: she surely can't be left to keep doing this, it's dangerous for her
FG: we all have to take risks for the good of the kingdom sire
*Ben and Mal both felt a slight pang of guilty at those words, knowing they were in reference to Jane, who still hadn't woken up , they quickly agreed with her and Mal told her to take her time, something which ben wanted to dispute, worried for Mal's health, but knowing he had to be understanding of the fairy godmother's current circumstances, he of all people should be able to understand after all should he? She excused herself, leaving the couple alone to discuss things*
Mal: Ben, I'm okay, she's not draining me, yeah I'm a bit tired sometimes, it's not easy all the time, but when she's calm it's not bad at all
Ben: Mal I can't have you back completely out of it again, I need you here, I can't handle one more thing going wrong or I might just break
*Mal's face went soft as she realised what this was really about, she moved towards him, kneeling down in front of him, taking his hand and kissing it gently*
Mal: I'm here Ben, I'm with you
Ben: but he was supposed to be and now he's not
*seeing the tears in her husband's eyes and knowing that her mother had caused it all killed her, but she knew that this time she had to be strong for him, not the other way around*
Mal: I'm not leaving you, I'm right here
Ben: I couldn't do anything without you, you're everything to me, I was so scared for you what was happening to me felt like nothing
Mal: I saw it happen, I saw the monitor go dead, I hear it just turn into one long beep....I....felt it happen, it was like I could feel your heart stop
Ben: when my mom told me what had happened all I wanted was to see you...but then I did and it didn't feel any better, you can always fix everything for me but this time even you couldn't help me
Mal: I don't know what to say
Ben: I don't know what there is to say about it
Mal: are you gonna be okay?
*in response to that question, Ben wraps his arms around Mal just a little bit tighter and rested his head against hers*
Ben: as long as you're here
Mal: I'll always be here
Ben: then I'll be okay, it just....it just hurts a lot right now
Mal: I shouldn't have said anything about this, not now, I was just worried about her
*at those words he lifts his head and immediately forced eye contact between the pair of them*
Ben: I do not stop being a father because of this, I do not stop being a husband because of this, don't you ever think shielding me from something that's going on is best, not if it could end up putting one of you in danger, if you think it's important then you tell me
Mal: but I'm your wife and you didn't tell me
Ben: what?
Mal: your father and my mother are both dead because you didn't tell me
Ben: what?
Mal: Ben?
*suddenly Ben was jolted back into reality to find Mal looking at him worriedly*
Mal: are you okay?
Ben: uh, yeah, y...yeah
Mal: do you need me to go get the doctor?
*she went to move off him, preparing to go get a doctor, worried about his health but he just pulled her back against him, holding onto her more tightly still, she just let him do it, resting her head in the crook of his neck gently, not sure what else to do*
Ben: I'm fine, just stay with me
Mal: babe what just happened?
Ben: nothing, I just....zoned out for a minute I guess
Mal: o...okay
*and there they were, both as confused as each other, neither side what to do, everything seemed to be one big mess and neither of them could figure out where to even start trying to fix it*

THIS IS TERRIBLE I AM SORRY! I don't know quite why it's so bad but it just is, again I kept thinking oh I need to rewrite this bit, I just hate how I'm writing them trying to grieve, because it's so awkward and trying to wrap it all together and fit everything as it should be fitted, it's bonkers I'm telling you, I'm so sorry but I promise I'm working on a second update to make this up to you 😂😂 Xoxo
