*Evie soon came knocking and off the went, Mal still not content as they did, but she couldn't stop him, she understood why he had to go see her, to go see how Carlos was doing, it had been almost a week and nothing had changed*
Evie: so, how are you guys doing?
Ben: don't have kids until you're ready to never sleep again Evie
Evie: sounds like fun, but not what I meant
Ben: she's okay Evie, well, not really but, she'll be okay, we've just gotta let the dust settle first
Evie: what about you?
Ben: I don't know Evie
Evie: I can't really understand what you're going through, even if something happened to my mother it wouldn't be similar, I can't imagine what she's going through either because I couldn't have done what she did, but I do know that you're both strong enough to deal with this, together you can get through anything, but Ben, just don't let it consume you, I know you try and put her first, and it's really amazing, but just this once, you're gonna have to put yourself first
Ben: I know
Evie: you're not going to, are you?
Ben: I honestly have no idea how
Evie: you've gotta know hat she'll be okay Ben, she will, we're all here for both of you, break down if you need to, whatever helps you, do it, we're all here to pick up the pieces for BOTH of you, she's family for me, Carlos and jay, she's all we really have, and you're her family, so you're ours as well
Ben: thank you Evie
Evie: of course
*just then they arrive, going in it looks pretty empty until they get to the door of Jane's room and immediately can see Fairy Godmother sat outside and can see through the glass of the door to see Carlos sat at her bedside, Evie stops and Ben takes a deep breath before pushing himself up, rather to Evie's dismay and the shock of of Fairy Godmother who had just become aware of his presence*
Evie: Ben!
Ben: it's fine Evie, just do me a favour and don't tell Mal, I really don't need the earful
*Evie sighed but nodded in agreement*
FG: your highness, what are you doing here, aren't you supposed to be resting?
Ben: yes, but I wanted to come and see how Jane was doing myself, if I'd have used better judgement, this might not have happened.....I'm so sorry
FG: your hi.....Ben, you're not to blame, I knew she wasn't ready before and I left her to do it on her own
Ben: I was in charge and I let it happen
FG: it doesn't matter now
Ben: would you mind if I see her?
FG: she's your friend, of course you can
Ben: thank you
*Ben turned and slowly walked away, he knew he was pushing himself too hard and he knew Mal had every right to be worried but he'd never been able to just sit back and do nothing, and now would be no exception, he'd rest when events permitted him to and not before, nothing would be delayed for him, under any circumstances, Evie came over to him, not looking convinced that he should be there to begin with, he'd hoped Evie would understand, perhaps she was just worried for Mal, or nervous of how Mal would react if she found out Evie had let Ben just go wandering off, Mal definitely wasn't ever going to be mistaken for someone who was good at remaining calm*
Evie: Ben, are you sure this is a good idea?
Ben: I need to do this Evie, please, I know I'm asking a lot of you by asking you to cover for me with Mal, but she can't be spending all her time worrying about me right now and yet she still insists upon doing so
Evie: it's okay, I just....you're going through a lot too Ben, she's stubborn, I know, I know she's struggling, I know she's hurting, but you've got to let her come to you when she's ready to admit it, you can't just put yourself and your feelings on hold until then, you shouldn't force yourself to do something because it's what you think you should do, you don't need to see Jane just to put yourself through the extra guilt you clearly feel because you seem to think you must take responsibility for this
Ben: maybe I am responsible Evie
Evie: Jane wouldn't want you to think that, she's the most sweet and caring person in the world, she wouldn't want you to be making yourself feel worse because of this, she's stronger than people think, she'll be okay
Ben: I have to, I have to see her and I have to do my part to support Carlos, I'm not one of you guys, I know that, I always knew that, but you're still my friends and I want to support you all
Evie: you are one of us, you have been since you put your hand in with us after the whole good vs evil thing at your coronation
Ben: then even more than anything I need to do this
Evie: you're as stubborn as she is
Ben: I know, you sound like her as well
Evie: she's definitely left her mark on the both of us
Ben: and we're better for it
Evie: that we are

ITS A BLEGH AND CRAPPY FILLER WHICH IS SHORTER THAN I WOULDVE LIKED BUT IVE BEEN SUPER BUSY CUZ I STARTED SCHOOL TODAY AND IVE BEEN SWAMPED WITH WORK LEADING UP TO AND FROM STARTING BACK! But hopefully tomorrow (no promises tho) I'll have more for you guys and it'll be less blegh Xoxo
