A New Life

New Family

Luke signed the papers, and we headed to his home in Brentwood to meet my new mama and brothers.

When we got home, Luke went upstairs to get Caroline. They both came down the stairs holding kids, Bobo and Taterbug.

"Hi, my name's Caroline. You must be Cheyenne?" "That's me!" They smiled, "Well welcome to our family! These little guys are Bo and Tatum." I got ready to say hey to them, but before I could BoBo was out of Luke's arms hanging onto my leg. I laughed and he says, "Are you my new sister?" "I sure am buddy. Are you my new brother?" He flushes just a bit, "I think so!" "Awesome!!" I say. Then we all laugh. "You fit in already," Caroline says grinning. "I told you she would," Luke comments.

"Yup, why don't you show Cheyenne her new room, then maybe she can shower before supper?" Luke starts heading up the stairs motioning for me to follow, "Sounds good, c'mon baby girl." I follow him up the stairs into the bedroom. My eyes get wide, "It's perfect!" The bed has a camouflage comforter. The room is a shade of light pink. Above the headboard, there's a sign that says ''backwoods princess''. There's even pictures of my new family hanging on the walls. AND, my favorite part is the large TV hanging on the wall. I haven't been able to watch TV since my parents died. I look over at Luke, who's staring at me. "It's perfect! Thank you so much!! I love it!! Oh my, thank you so much!" "You're welcome baby girl. Why don't you shower, and meet us downstairs? I think Caroline's wanting to go out to supper tonight. Ok?" "Sounds good, do I need to um, look dressy?" He gives me a slight hug, "Were going to Olive Garden, so you decide, but you look beautiful in anything." He kisses me on the forehead, and leaves the room.

I go into my new bathroom, that happens to have a matching camo shower curtain, and turn on the water as I hop In. When I get out, I put back on the same clothes I've been wearing all day...and everyday since my parents died. Ms. Trace wouldn't let me take any of my stuff to the orphanage. This is gonna be so embarrassing. What will Luke say when I come downstairs in the same outfit? I open my bathroom drawer to find a brush, so I brush my hair, and head to the living room to find my new parents and brothers.
