A New Life

Settling In

Life has been so good. Luke adopted me in March. It's June now, and I've pretty much became settled in with my life. Daddy's home from tour right now. So everyday I wake up around 8:30, go downstairs, have breakfast with my new family, and spend the day playing with BoBo and Taterbug, Mama, and Daddy. I love them all so much. It's so unreal. They've accepted me into their family so quickly and with opening arms.

Today were going to the lake to fish. Mama is in the kitchen putting together some sandwiches for later. Luke is loading up the truck, and I'm playing with the brothers. Right now were having a tickling fight. "AHHH, stop Cheyenne!! That....TICKLESSSS!!!!!!!!!" Taterbug yells. "C'mon y'all," Caroline yells. "Ok Mama!" I take the boys to the truck, where I buckle them in, and then sit in between them. Mama and Daddy hop in the front, and Daddy drives us to the lake.

We're almost there when the man on the radio says they're gonna play a country throwback. They start playing "You Don't Jack" by Luke Bryan. Daddy's face lights up when he hears it coming through the speakers. "It's your song on the radio Daddy!" "It sure is!" Mama and I start to sing along with the radio. Daddy joins in. I look out the window, and begin to cry. I let out a small sniffle. BoBo sees me crying, (which I was trying to avoid). I never want BoBo to see me crying. "Mama, Cheyenne's crying!" Caroline turns around real quick. "What's wrong baby girl?" I wipe my tears away, "Ah, my emotions got the best of me I guess. This song has always been one of my favorites, but when everything in my life started crumbling into a million pieces this song was basically my life. I would listen to it as much as possible. So now when I hear it, it brings me back to those hard times." Mama grabs my hand,"Aww, I love you." I smile,"I love you too..and Daddy, BoBo, and Taterbug with all my heart. What would I do without y'all? ❤ Daddy speaks up,"I don't know baby girl, but I love you so much. You're truly meant for this family. You have such a caring heart, and you love your brothers so much. They love you. The way they smile at you proves it." "Yeah!" Taterbug pipes up. We all laugh at his comment. We then pull up at the lake. We unload all of our stuff, and start fishing out on the dock. BoBo and Taterbug are running around like crazy. "Come play!!" they tell me running by. I reply,"In just a minute! I got a bite Daddy!" He looks at my rod. "Reel it in. Caroline, Cheyenne's got a bite!" Caroline looks up at us,"Ya gotcha a fishing daughter there," she laughs. Luke nods his head. I reel it in. I pick it up, unhook it, and pose while Daddy takes a picture. Then I plop it in the cooler. "I gotta find BoBo & Taterbug. I gotta chase them!"

LUKE'S POV

She runs off, and I get a little alone time with Caroline. "I really love her. What do you think?" She looks up at me,"I love her too..and you." I give her a great big kiss. I see the kids running off through the woods. It makes me so happy knowing we're all a happy, healthy family. Cheyenne is getting perfectly settled. It's warming up, and summertime is coming. My baby is right here beside me to live it all day by day at my side. I couldn't be any happier. "The kids are so cute. Cheyenne's a great big sister," Caroline says. Gosh, I married one good looking, amazing, perfect, mother of 3, wife. "She is, I'm just so happy right now," I say. "Mhm, me too babe." "She needs to meet Mama LeClaire soon," I add in. "Yeah, she can meet her soon. We could throw a 4th of July party next month," Caroline suggests. I'm just about to tell her I like that idea when I hear scream followed by BoBo yelling "DADDY!"
