I know that I might be a little too old
To be talking like I'm still 16 or so.
But a little, discreet, coffee shop caught my eye
And its simple owner reading inside.
Two pairs of panda ears crowned her head
As a white poetry book filled her hands.
And when she spoke, words of "Rejection" came forth.

"Rejection" speaks true;
A little bit of praise will do little wrong.
A little bit of love,
Even if awkward and stiff,
Can show us that the human face behind the god-like gaze.

God you are not
But you hands cover me.
Blocks out the sky
To control the path I'll live in.

God you are not
But your knowledge surpasses me.
Shines on your scars
And re-aligns my moral compass.

God you are not
But your back is high and your expectations never low.
Leaves me in the shadows of doubt and inferiority.

"Rejection" speaks true;
Of the pains from shortcomings
From your high view.
We see a world and we can't understand
Why you can't explain or speak to us
In a way we can, of you, understand.
In a way we can, of your love, see.

God you are not
But we see you to be
All-knowing, then
All-controlling; then

And only then,

All-loving.
