A/N A shoutout to the wonderful Early-Death (who I have dedicated this chapter to in case you want to check out her stuff) who made me the wonderful new cover for this book. I am eternally grateful and happier than you could ever imagine. Remember comment and vote!!

I let go of Nora's hand at the door knowing that if my mother sees me holding hands with her she'll assume more than she should. I open the door and call out, "Mom, Dad. We have a guest."

In my peripheral vision I can see Nora tugging at her bracelets. I put a hand out to stop her and she blushes.

Wow. Does she get this way with meeting everyone's parents?

Dad comes out first looking confused. "A guest?"

"Yeah, I brought company for our movie viewing tonight." I say.

Mom comes around the corner finishing off a ginger bread man. "Guest?"

They get closer to the doorway and lock eyes on Nora at the same time. She clears her throat quietly and I stand there beaming like an idiot.

"Mom and Dad this is Nora, I've told you about Nora remember. Nora these are my parents Trixie and Arthur." I point to each of them.

She waves politely, "Hi, it's very nice to meet you."

Mom's eyes are shocked at first but they very quickly spill over with delight. She rushes forward and captures Nora in a hug. "Oh Nora it is so great to finally meet you." She pulls away and holds her at arms length, looking at her with the love of a mother. Nora looks awkward, but trying to hide it. "Riley never shuts up about you."

"Mom!" I prostest.

She rolls her eyes and hugs Nora again. "Oh isn't she a gem."

Dad looks as if he's trying not to laugh and my cheeks are as red a tomato.

"Maybe this wasn't the best idea." I mutter.

Nora darts her eyes over to me and frowns. What did I do?

"It's very nice to meet you Mrs Lawrence." She says sounding sincere despite having been ambushed with hugs by my mother.

"Don't be silly, call me Trixie." She says.

"Alright, Trixie." Nora says smiling.

Mom lets Nora go and shoves Dad towards her. "Hello Nora, it's nice to finally put a face to the name."

"Same here." She says.

"Mom and Dad," I say quickly before they can embarrass me any further. "The reason I bought Nora here is she was off to go and watch Love Actually by herself but I thought since Mom loves it so much and we were inevitably going to end up watching it sometime tonight she should join us."

Mom almost jumps with joy. "You like Love Actually?"

"I love it. I watch it every year." Nora says grinning.

"Oh so do I. Come on, let's go get it set up. Riley, why don't you and your Dad get us some food and Nora and I can fix the movie up and get to know each other a little more." She squeezes Nora's arm and smiles at her.

Dad and I nod and go off into the kitchen. Mom and Nora head off to the lounge room. Mom talks to her like she's an old friend. Which is both pleasing and terrifying.

I head to the fridge and get out our last bottle of cola.

"She's nice." Dad says as I join him at the cupboard to get some glasses.

"Yeah, she is." I say smiling to myself.

"But I, uh, thought you two were no longer best buds?" He asks carefully.
