Morning came all too soon. Sleep didn't come easy but I got enough of it even though I wanted more. I could hear Jareth watching the tv. I didn't want to get out of bed just yet. The key was around my neck and still felt like ice. I never took it off last night. Jareth is going to ask how I came to have it and I can't think of a single thing response. I guess I should just cross that bridge when I get there but I can't seem to not worry.Jareth starts arguing with the show he's watching which causes me to flinch. Getting out of bed was harder than any other time. A day was waiting for me that I wasn't all too excited to get started. Now sitting up in bed I mussed my hair and yawned.
After a quick shower and breakfast of oatmeal and toast. We shrug on the back packs I prepared the night before.
"Well just how are we supposed to get there?" I look up at Jareth, thinking he had thought of this already.
"Well I thought we could go back the way I came, but I may not have enough magic to get us there." He looked down at the floor in concentration, with his hands on his waist.
"How did you get here?" Genuine curiosity colored my voice.
"I magiked myself through your front door."
"Huh." I thought to myself a second. I had an idea about this key under my shirt, but I know if Jareth knew I had it, he would get angry. Just like the fae king said. "Why don't we try that method again. What could it hurt?"
"Not much I suppose. Well then, let's do it."
He turns to walk to the door and I slip my necklace off and hide it in my hand, wrapping the chain around my wrist.
"I don't know if I have enough in me, Sarah." He faces the door with a grim look.
"That negative attitude will hurt your effort. Concentrate, close your eyes and focus." He trustfully does what I say. I gasp when his eyes shoot open and he grabs me by my hips.
"What in the world?!" I say, loudly.
The goblin in front of me chuckles and presses his lips to mine. Not very hard, but rough. I feel my face burn but I'm frozen. Even though his kiss is rough, I feel the burn on my face spread down my neck to my toes. His fingers dig in to my hips, and my arms make their way up his and around Jareth's neck. I kiss him back, matching his fervor. He causes a growl to form in the back of his throat that vibrates my whole body. He breaks us apart. His eyes glow and are filled with a predatorial look, matching the satisfied smirk he wore.
"Maybe now I will manage the feat."
When he lets me go, I come to my senses. I'm instantly ashamed of the flushed, properly kissed look I knew I wore on my face.
I can only stutter when he puts his finger on my mouth and hushes me.
"Quite now, I must concentrate." He closes his eyes again and I take a step back, in case he gets another idea of kissing me.
"That won't happen again, Jareth." My voice shakes from the emotions running through me. Embarrassment, anger, passion, color my mind.
"We'll see about that. Now do be silent."
The air beings to hum with his power and I snap back to reality. We were about to cross worlds and I needed to use my key because Jareth didn't have the power to do recreate a gate. So I reach for the door handle with my key in hand and turn it left. The door glows with a crisp white halo. I turn around to look at Jareth and his eyes are still closed but he's got a smirk on his face. I quickly take the key out and smile.
"I think you did it."
"Well, it seems I was wrong. I don't even feel that drained. I may use that form of morale empowerment again." His eyes open, looking at me. I roll my eyes in response. Then his face grows fierce. He looks filled with a dangerous determination. "Let's go get my kingdom back, shall we? Ladies first." He opens the door and gestures for me to pass through. The other side greats me with vibrant colors. The surroundings are covered in soft, tall grass and flowers in every color and varying types. All of which are foreign to me, but beautiful all the same.
