After successfully rinsing off in the shower and clothing myself without the goblin's intrusions, I look at my reflection. My mind is torn with confusion, nerves, and a small, minuscule bit of excitement for the upcoming adventure. That excitement scares me even more then the Labyrinth does.I shouldn't be feeling that. This might be a dream, and if it it, there's no harm in enjoying it. Right? What if it isn't, though? What if this is actually real? I could get hurt, or worse, die. My fear for the Labyrinth bubbles up again. Well I have a small time left here in this world before we have to leave. There's no need to worry about that now. Nothing can be done at the moment. My inner thoughts continue to jumble together while I put my hair in a messy bun and quickly apply the basic amount of makeup.
Finished getting dressed, I walk out of my room to see Jareth fiddling with the television.
"What is this? How are you in there, tiny human?" His mumbling and confusion makes me smirk. That's when he notices me off to his left. "Sarah, what is this? Why are there humans in this box?" The look he gives me is pure confusion. Today was going to be entertaining, to say the least.
"It's a television. It's one of the things humans use for information and entertainment. The people aren't in the box. Just a moving image of them. Sometimes it's a live moving image and other times it's recorded, it happened before." His face fills with more questions but I see some recognition in it. Before he starts asking me more questions I change the subject. "So are you ready to go?"
"Yes, let's." He leaps to his feet. He put on the clothes from last night but with a new vest. Today his vest is a deep red and a rich gold.
"Where did you get that vest? And those pants from this morning?"
"I have some magic left. Not much but enough to change my appearance a bit." He pulls his hair back enough for me to see his ears, and notice his hair is shorter. "I'm sure my ears would be considered strange here, so I changed them to look like yours. See? No point."
"And I see your hair is shorter. It looks good." I give him a small nod and walk to grab my purse and keys. "Now to get to the store to get you normal clothes, we are going to drive in my car. It's like a carriage but with out the horses and runs on electricity."
"Interesting."
With that he follows me out of the apartment and to the stairs. I'm only 3 floors up so I don't normally use the elevator. Plus, if people stopped it and came on, they would for sure be concerned about the man in leather with me. Out side we walk a few feet to my Jetta and he climbs in. His legs look squished. When I hop in I lean towards the trigger under his seat. I have to push his push leg a tad so I can reach it.
"What are you doing?" His voice inquisitive.
I smirk and lift the bar and his chair moves back.
"I was adjusting your seat so your legs were no longer squished."
"Ah. Thank you."
I straighten myself and start the car. I turn my radio to my modern classical music and begin to drive.
Fifteen minutes later we arrive at the mall. I park the car next to the store and get out. Jareth follows suit and strides next to me. For someone that sticks out, he has a lot of confidence. Which doesn't surprise me, for he is a royal pain. Of course he would come with a regal air. He grabs the door and holds it open for me.
"My lady."
"Thank you."
"There are some things similar between our worlds. Not a whole lot, but there are similarities."
"Now that you point it out, I guess there is. Ah- turn here. This is for men."
He dubiously looks around. "Interesting clothing taste you humans have."
I weave around the men's department and pick up things. I hold them up to him to see if it will look good. If they seem decent, I thrust them in to his arms. He holds them at a distance with disdain.
"Should I open a room for your boyfriend?"
An older woman taps my arm and looks at Jareth, who's arms are overflowing with items, with a bewitching smile and he returns it shoving the clothes in to her arms. Her eyes never leave his.
"Yes please. That would be great. "We are going to look some more."
"Well, then, I will have the room ready for him and have these waiting inside it." She flashes me a tight smile leaving his eyes for only a moment and saunters off. I turn to the goblin and see him smirking down at me.
"Well she was nice."
"Uh-huh. Now let's look at shoes." I brush past him and he grabs my hand. "He-"
He intertwines our fingers and walks with me and looks straight ahead.
"Hey!"
I pick up my pace. He tightens his grip and twirls me in to an embrace.
"Can't you play my game for a day?"
"No. We are here for a purpose. Let's get it done so we can get u back to your world and out of mine."
His face goes from a smirk to intense in seconds. I have no clue why but I blush profusely. Seconds that seem like hours pass and his face turn back in to a playful smirk. He twirls me again. "Now where were we heading again?"
It takes me a moment to get my face's color back to normal and in the corner of my eye I see two girls giggling at us.
"Shoes! Uh, ehem, we were, uhm, head to find you shoes."
"Right." His face had the look of a winner written all over it and I knew what for. He successfully messed with my head. I am left to wonder though, do I have a choice in playing?
