The lust and power leave his eyes as he registers what I had done.
"How-" He fell to his knees and slowly tries to remove the small knives. "I am not easily done away with."
A gust of wind pushes me back slightly. The prince's head falls off of his shoulders, rolling towards my feet, but I take a step back before it touches my shoe. I look up and Jareth is breathing heavily holding his sword by his side and it was dripping with a black substance.
Blood. Fae blood.
I fall to the floor, on to my bottom, less than gracefully. I start going in to shock.
Jareth's eyes widen and he rushes to me.
"Breathe, love. In and out. Breathe." He instructs me. My panic snapped him out of whatever state he was in. Jareth cautiously grips my shoulders and breathes with me.I follow his example and calm down, slightly. I can't stop my hands from shaking.
My mind is blank, except for one phrase "Oh my god." I can feel myself shivering. I'm rocking and shaking and for the life of me, I can't form a single word. There's a ringing in my ears, but I can still hear Jareth reassuring me that I'm safe. He sound far away but he's there.Jareth POV
Sarah sits on the floor with my hands on her shoulders. She stopped breathing quickly, but she still shakes and rocks. I'm not sure if she can hear me, but i keep telling her that she is safe and everything will be alright.
It's quite worrying to see her like this. To be honest, it's terrifying. She normally holds herself together. Even through our rocky past, she never broke down. This must have been hard on her. She looks like she broke.
Immediately I feel awful. I should have left her out of all of this. I broke her with my choices. Without her, yes she would be safe, but would I have been able to defeate the ice bastard? She was amazing. That guilt was made smaller by the pride I felt of my human.I move both of us so that she was across my legs, and held her torso against my chest. I stroked her hair and changed her panicked rocking to a comforting rhythm.
"You are a magnificent being." I whispered to her, my cheek resting against the top of her head. "You are unbelievably brave and strong. We did this together. We won. You won."
"W-we won..." She softly repeated. "We w-w-won."
"Yes we did." I made her look at me. "You are magnificent."
I kissed her forehead before she started sniffling and crying.
"It's over? Is it done?" Sarah questions.
"Almost, love."
"What?" A frightened look colors her eyes.
"No, no. It's nothing to be scared of." I smile and give a weak chuckle. "I still need to return to the throne and undo all of the Fae magic. It's time to return the Goblin City to its glory."
She returns my smile. A blush colors the apples of her cheeks before she hides her face in my chest.
"Can we stay like this for a moment longer?" I hear her murmer. She's stopped shaking but her eyes still betrayed her emotions.
"Of course, love. As you wish." I chuckle.
The fae's body has turned to ice and broken to miniscule pieces, unrecognizable. By now the surrounding fae will have felt their leader's death and started to flee. I have no quarrel with them, they may flee. They were lead by a corrupt creature. Before, when their previous king was alive, we had amicable dealings. Hopefully that will continue once again. Those that supported him will be dealt with, however. Theirs and my kingdoms needed the cleansing their deaths will bring.
I need to get to the throne room now and merge my power back with the land. Once its merged, I can remove the ice and bring back the nature and life of the Goblin City.
"Love, it's time to go finish things." She pulls herself from me, and I'm glad to see her looking more like herself.
"Yes. It's time for you to bring the goblins home." Sarah nods and gives me a weak grin. Her energy is low, and I completly understand. As strong as she can be, she is still delicate. I have apologizing to do and gratefulness to convey soon.
Helping her stand and walk, we make our way through the unbarricaded door to the throne room. The future of the Goblin City is fairly clear but one thing is infinitely certain.
I would do more than move the stars for her. I would move time and worlds for this human.A/N: Please don't forget to go back and read the new previous chapters! The multiple updates may have caused some of you to miss a chapter or two.
