That carefree spirit with an angelic face,
Just passed by my life the other day.
I looked up at him from the terrible problems I had to face.
I looked up at him while running through this life that had become quite a race.
And I just dropped my pen and looked out of the window,
And looking at him, I remembered life was once a fresh, green meadow.
Where I kept walking and singing and laughing,
And I thought and believed that was the way one should be living.
As I saw him smiling without a reason,
I smiled at his innocence that still knew not the word – treason.
For whom life was an everlasting spring season,
And I wondered when exactly did my life become this unending winter season without a sun.
I saw him running into the sand,
Not caring that he'll get dirt on his hand.
Out of the sand – quite a castle did he fashion,
Oblivious to the fact that he was slowly erecting the kingdom of my poetic passion.
I watched him run, fall and get up with a smile.
And I said – Isn't that exactly what people taught me about life?
That challenges, problems and worries don't go away.
They knock you down but you'll have to get up, smile at the lesson learnt and then go your way.
But just for a while – so easy it was -
To forget all my worries and smile without a cause.
Or wait – was it because that little child had made me pause,
To make me realize how easy it was to appreciate the happiness that through my life had made a frequent cross.
Just looking at his happiness while he was playing,
Made me want to re-enter my childhood – merely the thought brought me on the verge of crying.
I would do anything to climb that tree as a five year old once again.
And escape this reality where all that people care for is gain.
Oh you little child!
You made my imagination run wild.
You just arose emotions and memories that passed by like a tide.
But you taught me a lot and I've decided, from these problems, I'll no longer hide.
Yes, I'll face this world with an open heart and an open mind.
Yes, I'll navigate through this ocean of life and try to find -
Happiness, content, love and things that actually matter.
Thanks – for you made me realise life can always be made better.
Self made Quote : Once in a while, do pause to ask yourself - Are you living life or are you just going through it
