"Should we hold hands?"
They were just going to walk to the store because Lucie had forgotten to bring a toothbrush, so she didn't really understand why they should hold hands. She looked at Jeremy with raised eyebrows before reluctantly grabbing his hand. At first, she wasn't sure how to hold it. Should she hook pinkies like she used to do with Kiana when they still hung out? Should she just hold it normally like she did with Gabe whenever they went somewhere because he was afraid of losing her in a crowd, again? Or should she intertwine their fingers like she saw couples do all the time? As Lucie stood there and was completely overthinking how to hold hands, Jeremy intertwined their fingers and smiled.
"That okay?" he asked, and at first she wasn't sure what to respond. They had never really held hands before. They had hugged, yes, and sometimes sort of cuddled when they were watching TV shows together, but they never held hands. So instead of answering the question, Lucie just shrugged.
"Why should we hold hands, anyway?" she questioned and put her free hand in her pocket to make sure she actually had a few dollar bills with her. "It's not like she who shall not be named will magically appear on the way to the store."
"Because practice," Jeremy answered simply and walked into the store. "Okay, you need a toothbrush. Anything else?"
Lucie shook her head, "Nah, just a toothbrush and something to magically cure my cripplingly low self-esteem, but y'know. You can only get one of those here." He gave her a Look, which she just responded to with a snort before she let go of his hand and actually skipped down the aisles to find the toothbrushes.
Jeremy shook his head and mentally facepalmed, "I'm fake dating an actual child with a questionable sense of humour."
