My Father doesn't let me skip school to visit Parker. But I go after school every day. Each day is the same him, school, hospital, home. I don't mind though. Parker means too much to me.
After 20 days of being in the Hospital we finish the series together. As I read the last word Parker says,
"Thanks Brielle that was a wonderful series. But sadly I am still here. I think the nurse said something about talking to you later today."
"Oh. Wouldn't she rather talk to your parents?"
"Nah. They are out of town this weekend so they thought they should tell you since you're here than my busy parents."
"Ok Par-"
KNOCK KNOCK
"Hello Parker and Bri. How are you feeling?"
"My head hurts."
"Well it is getting late. Why don't you close your eyes for the night? And Bri can you come in the hall?"
"Sure. Bye Parker. Love you."
"Love you too Babe."
I kiss him on the forehead and leave to talk to the nurse.
"What's up nurse?"
"Well Parker is almost ready to go back home. We are going to take X-rays tomorrow to make sure that the small crack has healed."
"That's good right?"
"Yeah. But its going to be different from now on. He's going to have frequent headaches and he might act differently at school. I need to know that you will help take care of him."
"Of course. There's no one I rather be with. He's my love. I will do what I can."
"Thanks you Brielle. You are a great girlfriend. Bring another book tomorrow. A smaller one. I suggest that you read him Looking for Alaska. He would enjoy it. And by the time you finish it, he can leave. But no school for one week after being home."
"Yes nurse. Thank you."
With that my Father arrived to pick me up at 8 as usual. Reading his mind I hear
'Let's go. I have the night shift tonight,'
We drive home in silence. He then asks how Parker was and I told him what the nurse said. By then we were home, I got out, open the door and crashed on the couch. Good thing it is Saturday tomorrow.
