I had my Father bring me home. He was silent for awhile. I usually take this time to cry. But I didn't cry today.
"Father. I finally received good news today. Parker can leave in about in one week!"
"That is wonderful Bri. How's he doing?"
"He can't wait to leave. He misses everyone."
"He was taken very good care of. But Bri you kinda blocked out your friends."
"No I haven't Father. I talk to them all day at school. don't worry. They understand and have helped me a ton about this. "
"Good. Your Mother would be very proud."
"Yea I know. I miss her."
"Me too Bri. Wanna go put flowers on her grave? It would have been her Birthday today."
"Yes please. Yellow roses of course."
'Yellow roses were her favorite. Its the first gift I every bought her.'
We go and buy two yellow roses. Her grave is on the other side of town. We are silent the ride there. Once we reach the cemetery we go to her grave.
"Should we take turns?"
"Yea Bri. I wanna talk to her a minute."
I step back and give him some privacy. I hear him cry and he walks away.
'Go ahead'
I hesitate at first but then say,
"Hi Mother. I'm sorry I haven't visited you in a while. I've been very busy with school and helping Parker. Oh you would love Parker and he loves we don't worry. I miss you. I wish you were here to help me through this. You would know what to do. Happy Birthday Mother."
I motion Father over.
"Let's sing happy birthday Father."
We sing quietly and through tears. then leaving.
"Good bye Mother."
God I hate goodbyes.
